How the hell do you adjust the front band? I can't get to it. Linkage and stuff is in the way. Is there some secret?

I always ajust the bands with the pan removed and replace the filter too. I adjust the front to 1/4 inch freeplay, There is specs to adjust without removing the pan, But I have always done this way. Works for me. Everybody else maybe diffenrent.
