i havetwo 2.5 motors one a turbo the other a n/a motor i've been reading a lot on the web about factory cams the n/a cam has more duration and 8dagrees of over lap the turbo cam has no over lap and less duration. i want to build a strong 2.5 turbo motor for my 1989 dodge daytona. i have 782 fastburn head all ready to go. so fellow mopar men what say ye?

Most people tend to swap the turbo cams out for the NA cam. They seem to think it gives them more power than the NA cam.

Good luck trying to get a straight answer on this one... I have been trying to find out what the cam specs are forthe cam out of a 2.5 Turbo. I have a 2.2 TBI and was given the cam and roller rockers out of the 2.5 and have been trying to find the lift, duration, and all the rest of the info. I have everything from the 2.2 cam. So far I have been told it will fit, won't fit, same came, not the same cam (this is the only thing I know is true), and about a thousand different measurements from people who "know" what the specs are. I pretty much gave up...

the 2.5 specs i've found is .430 lift 236 dur intake 232 dur exhaust 8 degree over lap and a 110 centerline all this for the tbi 2.5. the turbo specs are 228 dur nitake/exhaust zero degree overlap and a 110 centerline. i tend to favor the tbi cam because it has more duration and a little overlap. what i want to know is does a turbo motor like duration and over lap?[sm=deal.gif]

You could probably use the 1987 info as a baseline...

the cam i've thought about using is an 1989 2.5 n/a motor with the specs above. it's a roller and i belive that with the longer duration and a little over lap will porduce more power. i'm just wondering if any one shares this though or has considered this swap or done i?[sm=yeahsmile.gif]

i'd also like to add that the n/a cam is free and just want to know if any one has done this or tried it before? thanks for the ferther input guys!!

I've been told by Delta cams you will loose horse power.

i'll call delta and ask about your advice. yet i can't help but wonder about all of this. i still want some one to explain to me what a turbo motor likes in reguard to the cam duration and overlap. it would seem to me that a little more duration would produce more power. by giving the combustion chamber a longer time to fill with boost would produce greater hp. and the overlap would help force the exhaust out forcing the turbo to spool faster. if i'm wrong please correct me because i really want to learn more about this.

i just got off the phone with comp cams and told then of my idea of the n/a cam in the turbo motor. there responce was it depended on the effency of the turbo. if the boost/backpressure ratio is correct the cam would be great. but the term "correct" is at least 1to1 or better. (1 lb boost = 1lb b pressure) so the question now is how effence is the mitsubishi th04 ? do i need to upgrade? any ideas?[sm=confused06.gif]
