wifey was driving 'rango thru a Wendys Drive thru last night, and "the brakes made a horrible noise, the ABS lite came on and the Brake lite came on". She says both lites were on all the way home. I went out and started the truck, the ABS lite stayed on a little longer than normal, then went off. No Brake lite. I drove and all seemed fine. I have just replaced both rear wheel cylinders in the last 3 weeks. Fluid levels are fine.
The truck only has rear ABS.
What is up ????

Hey, I have the same thing going on in my Durango, 98 too. Once when 4wheelin I was able to jar them off but now they are just on the entire time. I've been told it might be speed sensor problem but haven't been able to take a look at that just yet. Let me know if you get a solution for your's.

robust57 is right about the problem being a speed sensor. There are two speed sensors one on each steering knuckle. My D had the same problem,I replaced the sensors no more problem.

I just had the same issue. The ABS and brake light came on and stayed on. I looked at these forums before bringing my 99 D into the dealer to get robbed. I learned that 90% of the time it is the rear wheel sensor. I went to the dealer and asked for the rear wheel sensor - $34.00. It's located on top of the rear differential. Took around 20 mins. I figured I'd give it a try and it worked, both lights went off and stayed off. I recommend giving this a try before bringing to the dealer.

I am going to swap out my fronts sensors and see what happens. I am thinking its my front sensors since I was a little careless when doing brake and ball joint work. I will let everyone know how it turns out.
