Hi,I had an accident with my 01' Durango while flat towing a '90 Toyota 4Runner. Here's what happened I was taking a off ramp which had a left hand bend, just as I was getting to the bend the drivers side tire popped and I turned left into the divider. Then the truck slid sideways on the 2 right side tires with the left 2 tires in the air. Then it flipped onto it side and slid down the ramp about 150 feet. When it stopped the Toyota hit the back of the Durango and it bounced back upright onto all 4's. OK the man damage is to the front drivers side corner. After putting on the spare tire it hits the rear of the wheel well.It also snapped the CV axle and I'm sure there is other damage that I just can't see or tell.So here is my questions. I can pickup a 1998 Durango SLT with no body damage and 70k miles. The catch is there isn't a title. My buddy owns a repair shop and a customer brought it in with a blown motor and had them replace it with the 70k mile one. Well after everything was said and done the customer didn't have the money to pay and basically walked away and disappeared. What I need to know is are the front ends interchangeable? Upper and Lower control arms, CV axles, hubs, all the other front end parts, doors, tailgate, etc, etcI own the 01 outright and I dropped the full coverage since I hadn't had a accident in almost 10 years. So it's all on me and I can't just junkit. So any help anyone can provide would be GREATLY appreciated...Thanks,Joe
Remember, starting on 2000 models, basically the whole front end assembly and workings are different from the 98 models. Thus the reason for that ball joint recalls only on 2000 models and up.
Things I know are different between the 98-99 and 00-03 are:
00-03's:
Rack and Pinion steering assembly
98-99
recirculating ball joint steering.
Suspension design may be different.
Ball joint design?

OK, Thanks.... So I guess the upper and lower control arms wont work since the ball joints are different. Do you have any ideas other than getting OEM parts to repair it? Thanks,Joe
Your safest bet is to find a 00-03 D at a junk yard with a front end still intact and not wrecked.

I'm interested in the D without the title. Who and where? PM me please on it.
Best of luck on your repairs. Looks like you need every body panel. Oops. Sucks!
TIA on the lead on that other Durango.

Dude, screw everything mentioned in this post except for the D that was repaired at your buddies shop. Tell him to get a mechanics lein on the truck. We have done it 6 or 7 times. Same scenario, customer brings us a vehicle gives the OK to fix it but when it is time to pick it up, guess what? You guessed it no cash. There happens to be a Lexus GS 400 sitting in my driveway behind my D. Guess how I got that?????? Yup, needed a master cylinder replaced. Lexus quoted the customer around 3 grand to fix it, we fixed it for right at 1200 and the customer was all ****s and g***les. He gave the go ahead and when all was said and done, he never came back. We called and called but low and behold I have the car and title in hand. Check into it.....
Thats what I was thinking, but my buddy who owns the shop has more $$$ than god. He doesn't want to be bothered with whatever is involved. Do you think I could do it myself? Maybe a abanded vehicle? Thanks for the info and that was a great deal on the Lex...Joe
