Okay, we just bought a 2001 magnum 3 weeks ago. Since then its been in te shop at least 3 times with the same problem. I got the mech to give me the exact code showing up on the diagnostic: PO455. I'm told it has somethiong to do with the evap system. I was wondering if anyone out there has had similar experience with this year & model. I need some feedback from experienced folks. I get the idea that either the code is overly general or the dealership is run by idiots and I'd like to narrow down which it is. I love the truck, it has all the power I need and is otherwise in good condition. The check engine light just keeps coming on no matter what they do to it.

ahhh  magnums did not come out untill 05   Year car type and engine  and i will tell what to look for.
455 IS A LARGE EVAP LEAK try gas cap first  tighten it up then drive a few days. if u unplug your batt to clear the codes u may not have fixed it and u wont know untill  the test runs again and fails.

hehe  thats what i get for not reading all of the post  what have they replaced ne way??  the large evap leak is for a leak biggern tehn .04 inch in size   so basicly is trying to find a pin hold in a hose or part. Some parts fail more the others and hoses fail more the others  but need to know engine size  and what kinda car u have.

Okay, I'm obviously new to "dodge country" I always heard good things abt. dodge and would not have a Ford on a fork. I bought the truck used, it is a 2001 V8 (magnum engine) 1500 series. After getting your reply I've decided that the dealership is in fact run by idiots, one would think a .4 inch leak would not be hard to find.  Lets thank God it happens not to be a Dodge dealership. I disconnected the batt and cleared the code then made sure the gas cap was tight and sealed. As far as the what they've replaced; I really don't know just getting them to give me the specific code was like pulling teeth, I'll check on that. The latest wer got from the mech is that "the whole evap system is shot and they will have to disassemble the front end of the engine compartment to get to it all" I pretty sure this is crap because I had my own mechanic check the truck out before I finalized the contract to buy it.
