Good morning,
Recently I noticed a new problem with my '94 Intrepid. When I step on the accelerator I can hear a clunking noise from the forward end of the car. I can force the noise to appear whenever I'm going down a straight level road and tap and release the accelerator.
I'm guessing it could be a sloppy CV joint, transmission out of adjustment, or maybe a faulty engine mount. The symptoms are similar to what might happen if an engine mount were bad, that is, when I give it gas I hear a clunk.
Anyone have any experience with this problem?
Thanks,

Yup, it was the transmission mount. Had it replaced and now no more clunk. Thanks for the input!

Your welcome.  If you get a new knock (hard clunk) every time you push the accelarator (not the same as "I can force the noise to appear whenever I'm going down a straight level road and tap and release the accelerator"), it will probably be the engine cradle mount bushings.  They start to dry rot after 10 + years.  It's easy to see though, the cradle is the big "C" frame under the car that supports the engine (via the motor mounts) to the car frame with four bolts.  There are 8 bushings (4 upper and four lower).  They are a common fail on this car that go after the trany mounts (especially if you have a heavy foot).  Just somthing to keep an eye on.

P.S.  When they do go bad, they should be changed all at once, it will save you in the long run.
