Default should i buy an electric fan

hey so i was thinking of buying an electric fan for my 5.9....is it worth the money though? i see some say gains of "upto" 18HP and so forth. With an electric fan would i still need to keep the clutch fan? and if i dont is it hard job to switch them out? mainly is removing the clutch fan hard? heres a couple of the fans i was thinking of getting

with a good electric system you dont need the clutch fan its fairly simple to take off just a few bolts As far as being worth it well every small mod you make adds to the big improvement from all mods combined a lot of people have switched i say go for it if you want to spend the money

haha yea im just not sure yet...because most of them seem to generally be 400-500 and i dunno if i want to spend that on an exhaust since its already got a rumble to it stock, or headers or what haha..but it seems like the noise under the hood would quiet down a bit too as well if i switched out

the electric fan will be louder then the crank fan.. when it kicks in sounds like a turbine lol... see if you can ebay a viper elec fan off ebay or craigs list for a bit cheaper..

Hey r/t you I would go for an exhaust since our stock pipes are really good anyway you would just need to spend a little on the muffler and an install. I did mine for $125 out the door. Headers are a different story though. [:@]

Yes!! It's a great upgrade. 1 large nut takes off the clutch fan.

Save yourself some money though. Go on ebay and get a Lincholn Mark VIII Electric fan! They are a LOT cheaper than an aftermarket setup, and dual speed, and they can blow 4000CFM on high! Width and height wise they are a perfect fit, you will need to trim about 1/4" off all the way around the shroud so the fan sits closer to the radiator so the motor will clear the water pump pulley.

Just get the fan and a few relays, or if you want to spend the extra dough you saved get a nice electricfan controller from Jegs or Summit.

I just used 2 relays, the fan comes on automatically when the ignition is on, and then I have a switch that controls another relay so I can switch the fan from low to high if needed. On high they draw about 30 amps though, so make sure you use some 10G wire for power and ground. You can get away with 12G wireon the 12V+ for low.

Here is some links to a couple Buy It Nows on Ebay.

alright cool yea ill check that out thanks...haha yea the headers...i think im screwed on that because i heard a rattling under there so i looked and part of the head shield was loose so i looked at it closer and the bolt that holds it and goes through the manifold to the block has broke right off inside the hole for the manifold so i dont know how its gonna be possible to get it out now

I've got a Mark 8 fan on my mustang. You can trim up to 3/4" off for clearance if needed.
This thing will cool anything. The CFM rating on high is closer to 5200. Paid 10 dollars for
it at the bone yard.
