Every production Viper has been a V10. Although, in a interview with Carol Shelby he did say he want it to be a V8 to lighten the car, ultimatly he lost that fight with Dodge execs, possibly becuase he had to take a reduced roll in the development as he was in the process of getting a new heart and was getting in bad shape waiting for one. Someday I will have to scan that.
A company did make a "kit Viper" for a short period of time before Dodge put the stops to it. The shell sat on top of a Corvette chassis and drive train. There is a post here near the top with a link.
