Slow starting engine

Hi, I've recently bought a 1998 4x4 Durango SLT with a 5.2 engine and 70k miles on it. Every time I try to start the engine it seems there is no gas on the inyectors, I have to keep on starting for about 4 seconds, then it works normally.

Someone told me the problem could be a check valve near the gasoline pump. This valve have to mantain pressurized the gas lines and when it fails, the gas returns to the tank so when you try to start again the engine, the gas lines have to fill again.

Please help me this problem

Replace the fuel pump pressure regulator, it is the silver peice the fuel line connects to on top of the fuel tank. Yes, you will have to lower the tank to get to it.

i dont understand why people throw parts at their car hoping to fix the problem. pull the codes .you may have to do it right after the start. if no codes then start with a fuel pressure gage and check the pressure on the rail. if therail dosent have fuel in it then you can go on to check the other componets in the system. check for cmall leaks then the regulator.any good service manual will list the componets their location and how to test them. you can get the whole dealer service manuel from different sites like e-bay in pdf format for 10 bucks or so.
