i was thinking about getting a new exhaust on my '04 hemi but have heard that certain dual exhausts make you lose back pressure so you lose horsepower. is this true? i was thinking about duals from the cat. converter back with flowmasters. would this be alright and what kind of flowmasters should i get? will it add any hp if so how much and would it sound okay? thaynks a lot for any info.

Here's a link to another thread http://www.dodgeforum.com/tm.asp?m=76283

As far as "loss" of horsepower, I can't feel anything but an increase, I haven't had it dyno-ed but it breaks the tire ALOT easier. In that thread there are two different type of flowmasters (one being Flowmaster "American Thunder" with 50 series muffler from JEGS) the other is a 70 series muffler.

Mopar just came out with the dual exaust for the Hemi with gains of 20 HP. Have them do it for you so you still get that warrenty.

Lower backpressure usually helps your horsepower, but not your torque. Just depends on what you use the truck for.

i was also wondering about keeping the original exhaust since its pretty good but taking out the stock muffler and replacing it with a flowmaster. would this help and and how would it sound? which flowmaster is best for this? thanks.

When I had the Ram I had a flowmaster 70 single in/dual out. Here is the sound byte. www.geocities.com/dheath_1999/ram.mp3 I had put on a glasspack t start with. but there was a BIG loss of midrange torgue, but when it spun it it ran. The flowmaster put back the torque and added a lil punch
