should I or shouldn’t I ? - 12/28/2003 10:16:45 AM    MR GT   Posts: 4 Joined: 12/28/2003 From: United States Status: offline I have a 1997 dodge Intrepid with the 3.5 litre 100,300 miles just rebuilt the tranny alot of $$$$ my dilemma now is do i trust this car with this kind of mileage? (after all it hasn't been the most reliable over the years) I don't want it to be a money pit.....how long should i expect this 3.5 litre engine to last without a rebuild? Post #: 1

It's a solid motor. Especially with routine maintenace and relatively easy driving. But you say it's not been that reliable over the years... and I don't want you to have a money pit either... so, my thought is, you are definately good for now, keep up with the routine maintenance and just keep a close eye on it. I'd like to be able to say you'll get another 30,000 - 50,000 or more, but that's probably 90% controlled by the proper routine maintenance. LOL! If it starts to "go down", then get ready to buy a new Dodge instead of replacing/rebuilding the engine. {I personally never liked rebuilt engines, met a few over the years and they weren't reliable.} C'mon everyone else... what are your thoughts on this? ~Amanda (in reply to MR GT) Post #: 4
