Default Supercharger Kit

I was looking at the Paxton supercharger kit for my 2001 dakota and it doesn't say much. Is this kit a good idea for a daily driver? With my luck I'll buy it and a connecting rod will go through the bottom of my engine (did it on my first car). I was thinking I could also get better pistons, connecting rods, and a crankshaft to go with the kit. Is this a sound idea. I know I have a lot of questions, but any help with this will be greatly apprecieted. Thanks.

How's your motor? Haven't read up on Paxton's blowers for mopar motors.
Vortech now owns Paxton. Figure every pound of boost is roughly 15 hp.
So, if the blower puts out 6 lbs of boost I would think your motor will hold up
just fine.

why waste your money on a blower? a normal 408 will do the trick plud it will coast about 3000.00 less then the blower. some 408 are pushing 600 hrspwr out of the box. and they are daily drivers. but if you want get in touch with www.krcperformnace.com and they will be able to help you. i went with there cam kit up grade for my dak and it was well worth it

I REALLY don't think they are all that much,.. Used, on E-Bay, I see complete S-Trim kits for 1600 bucks.
An A-Trim, will go for 1100 used. (Of course that's Vortech). My S-Trim went for 2450 new a few yrs ago.
Paxton Novi's can't be more.

Just to clear up any misconceptions: the kit I was looking at, is $5000 at Summit. It'sthe NOVI-2000and it produces 8 psi. It supposed to give 40% more hp. So, whatyou said before about the 15 hp for every pound is right on the dot.All in all the 408 would bea better optionif I had $7000. But I don't have that kind of cash. Here's the link to the paxton kit: http://www.paxtonauto.com/systems_1201217.htmlThanks everybody for helping me so far.

I would keep checking E-Bay for a much better price= 2300 or lower for a used one.
Heck, if it needs to go back for a complete rebuild after you buy it, it would
only cost 800 bucks to have it done. You would STILL save money.
I've run a centrifical blower on 4 different cars now. Gotta love that instant-boost when needed.
Sure beats filling up a bottle all the time!
