Default 1/4 Mile Info.... Updates....

Well I got in an argument about what my truck would do in a quarter mile race.....
So how fast of a time would my truck get?

Manual, V8, its a 318 I believe, all stock.....for now.

Well i'd reckon that's probably why he said 'Its a 318 I believe', instead of 'Its a 318'. He didn't know what the 4.7 was. Jeez people on this forum love to be dicks to people

You're 4.7 is a 286 or something, but people generally don't refer to the 3.9 or the 4.7 by their volume, just the 5.2 318 and the 5.9 360. I'd recommend you just say '4.7' and everyone will know what your talking about.

As for your stock quarter mile time? Not sure. I'd take a guess and say possibly somewhere between 16-17? You do have the heaviest truck.

What's stopping you from doing some mods?

Actually in the work....I kinda burried myself in some crap. But today I was going to head over to a shop and see what they'll charge for some exhaust work. Most mods wont be done too quickly.

I was also looking at intake, but after reading some posts about the CAI it seems like they only suck in warm air. How is it that you guys and or gals relocate the CAI to do it job correctly?

i bought the K&N FIPK from autozone. Installed the plastic tube to the throttle body, and then used some 4" rubber flex to run over to the passenger side fender well. -About the same place that the stock air intake setup is. If you look at yours, the airbox should have an elbow on it that leads into the pass. side fender well. I just used the 4" flex to run to the same place, and put my K&N filter in the fender well. Nothing but nice, cool air. Eventually, when the money is right, im gonna hook me up a dual forced induction from the fog light holes. Should be sweet!

The following will probably make be sound like an idiot but oh well.....anyway. So I couls probably but the set up for a CAI from ebay but mod it with the flex so its kinda like your set up? Correct? I'm a tight ass....

hell yeah buddy. Hell, ive even heard of people using PVC to make thier "home brew" CAI kits. The idea is to just come up with something that isn't as constrictive as the stock set up. When i installed mine, it made a big difference in throttle response, and a little more power. It will sound a little meaner under the hood too. Expecially at full throttle!

BTW- Dont feel like an idiot. Asking questions is how you learn, right??
