Default 2000 Dakota 4.7 sparl plug?

I have a 2000 Dakota 4x4 Quad Cab with a 4.7 engine in it and it has 130k on it and runs excellant. Im TIRED of paying labor to replace spark plugs every 30k like the manual suggusts to do.What I'd like to know is if anyone can recommend a spark plug that will allow me to go much longer before I need to replace them?

My GM vehicles can go 100k before the spark plugsneed to be replaced and I'd like to be able to do the samething with my Dodge Dakota to.

BTW---My highway mileage SUCKS. I get about 14mpg at 70mph on the freeway. I do have the 392 gears though. Anything I can do to IMPROVE this? Im running a KN filter allready.

Thank You,
Bill

#1 a plug swap on the 00 quad is easy as heel. Man one bolt and a wire harn for every coil. I just did one yesterday so if the labor is the big deal do it yourself. As far as plugs I use NGK just put them on will update how they perf.

Travis,
Im assuming your talking about the 02 Sensor when you speak of the pre 02 sensor?

If the 02 was bad, would'nt I have a check engine light come on?No light has EVER come on as of yet.

I am running champion spark plugs, but I still have to change them at 30k. Im thinking about moving to the Platium spark plugs so I dont have to change them so often, im wondering if anyone has tried these yet and what brand?

Bill

Does anyone have any experience with the Bosch Platinum +4 spark plugs? They are exspensive [6.97 each] but I'll buy them if they work out OK.

I just had platinum plugs put in last week. So far they seem to be doing fine. Gas mileage is pretty good.

If you are changing plugs every 30,000 mile just because a book tells you to, You are out of your mind.
Your GM vehicles tell you to wait 100K what the heck is the difference between the two vehicles besides the name. A motor is a motor. If you are having a problem with the way it is running or maybe using fuel a good rule is to change the plugs first. Every 30k NOT.
If it aint broke don,t fix it.
