Default PERFORMANCE UPGRADES???

I have a 2006 Ram SRT-10 Quad cab and I am looking to give it some better sound and also some better performance from stock. Can any of you guys give me some information on where to start? What are some add-ons? What kind of performance upgrade can I expect? What are your best things that you have done to your own truck?

I am trying to stay cost effective as well. I have a wife....which as you all know means there is this huge clamp on my bank account that makes it hard for me to retreive funds without an extreme headache afterwards...LOL.

Thanks in advance.
Bixby.

Hell Dude - your 90% there, at least you got the truck!!

I went with the K&N Cool Air Intake System in both my trucks and the true duel exhaust and that is a boiler system part #140111 in the SRT-10, and a FlowMaster System in the Hemi. The MagnaFlow exhaust is about $500 cheaper than the boiler but the MagnaFlow only has one muffler, but whatI hear from the guys its loud. It's gonna run about $350 for the K&N CAI System (not installed) and the boiler true duel exhaust cost about $975 w/ install. Tell your wife it gets better gas milage, that's how I got away with mine.

For a QC, the best early mod that will give you the best bang for the buck is a PCM from DC performance.

Ok, next question. I have heard differing opinions on the drop in air filter and the CAI. Is the drop in sufficient? It is about 50 bucks, as opposed to 300 for the CAI. Is the CAI really that big of a difference?

Also, what is the difference between the Borla exhaust 140188 and 140111. I know you said the 14011 is a true dual exhaust.

Thanks Again.
Bob.

From what I can see on the Borla website, the 140188 is specifically for a QC and is also a true duel exhaust for a 2006.
The drop in K&N Air Filter is good but you will get more HP with the whole system. I believe the drop in only gives about 5 HP, but the whole system gives 19.5 HP at 4200 RPM. If you change out your whole exhaust sytem you will get even more. The thing is with the intake systems ,if your putting more air into the engine, more air needs to come out.

I know someone who actually lost HP on a dynowith a K&N CAI.

Lost 13 lbs. torque and
Lost 9 horsepower
Altitude 3600 feet (4200 corrected)
Temp: 68F.
Humidity: 58 %

For some reason the stock airbox on our trucks are better than most which is why you have heard a drop in is the way to go. Maybe the factit is forward in the engine bayor that is pulls air from the wheel well, dunno. I still thought about it myself, but then I decided I will be putting on a SC soon and it made my decision easy.

Does it have to do with being at a altitude of 3600 feet? I'm in Miami FL. and flat as a pancake.
We are right sea level. I have K&N, CAI. in all my truck. At sea level i think they work alot better then
at 3600 feet.

I think it is around $600.

Look at it this way. At a minimum on a QC you will get 50HP, some get close to 75 HP, so about 10HP per $100, that is good HP to $ value, plus it installs in 10minutes!
