Default ? about the 6.1L Hemi

Ive been arguing with a buddy about the new 6.1L. Im saying its gonna be sweet, more power more torque, etc etc. he thinks its going to just be more power for the work trucks, 3/4 - 1ton's for towing, i think itll be a option in the 1/2tons also. i dunno.. so many things gonna change the next few years, liek the ford lightning getting a blower boost to keep up with the srt10, now would they make the srt10 faster, without making the viper faster? Anywyas, before i stray way off topic, will the 6.1L be available in the 1500's? and would it eat the hemi thats already in them?

Well I dont know about the 1500 getting the motor, but I know the SRT-8 300C will get the treatment for an improvement of 425 horses and 420 fpt. good numbers in car, lets hope they allow us a gift in the 1500's. I will keep my fingers crossed, and be ready to trade in the truck for alot of motor.

Well, consider that the SRT-8 gets the 6.1L for the 300C. Consider that the SRT version of the 1500 is the RAM SRT-10. That kind of bodes ill for the 1500 getting the 6.1L. It would be like two different SRT versions of the same truck. You never know though, but I certainly wouldn't get my hopes up.

With ford coming out with a new motor (6.2) in the next year or so I cant see dodge not putting the new hemi in the 1500. I for one hope so because thats what I'm waiting for!!

my bet is for the first year the 6.1 will only be in the 2500 and 3500 and then next year added to the 1500 just like the did with the 5.7.

I'm sure by the time the 6.1 is offered in the 1500 there will be numerous performance upgrades which will stiffle the performance of the 6.1 STS is just completing their prototype of their remote turbo system which will add approx 200 hp to the 5.7 Hemi. It will take a couple of years before performance upgrades will be available for the 6.1. Until then the 6.1 Hemi will have to be content to see the tailgate of my 2004 Hemi...

Well the 6.1 Hemi is a bored and stroked 5.7 Hemi...that has been fully reworked and nothing will interchange as i'm told. The Heads are also complety diffrent from the current 5.7 Hemi The 6.1 Hemi will be first run in the 300 SRT-8 later the Charger SRT-8.....before it goes into the 2500/3500 series ram trucks..AKA same as the 5.7 Hemi, the 6.1 Hemi will be in the Big Cab( Dodge has not coined a name for it yet) 1500 out for the late '05,early '06 model year. But both the 6.1 and 5.7 Hemi's will push DCX for some time. On the rumor mill i heard the v-10 is in its next to last year of production with the Hemi's taking over as head motor....There is a 7.4 Hemi in the works...the Big Block has at last came back to mopar...

Nope, it will not be available in the 1500 models... however I say dump the Ram SRT-10 for a turbocharged version of the 6.1L HEMI "MAGNUM" V-8 in a regular cab short box!
