Problem with my truck - 12/21/2003 1:21:30 PM    archer75   Posts: 3 Joined: 12/21/2003 From: United States Status: offline I have a 1998 Dodge Dakota 4x4, 5.2L V-8. The problem started yesterday. I drove to work in the morning and all was well with my truck. But upon going out to lunch, first thing I noticed when starting up the engine is that it was idling VERY rough, and making some odd noises, like air "whoosing" out of something. As I drove about a mile away the check engine light came on briefly and then went out. I also noticed a loss of power at higher RPMS. The ride home was very rough. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Post #: 1

Problem with my truck - 12/22/2003 9:43:58 PM    archer75   Posts: 3 Joined: 12/21/2003 From: United States Status: offline Well I looked over the engine on Sunday very briefly, had to leave as we had family obligations. Today after reading your posts I went back out and inspected everything thoroughly. I could not find any problems. I did replace the 10" round K&N filter setup I was using with another K&N intake kit I had. Started up my truck and the engine sounded just fine. Took it down to the gas station as I was almost out and it drove great. It appears the problem it was having simply vanished. Which makes me rather nervous as I imagine it could just pop up again. The check engine light remains on, I suspect it will until I get a dealer to clear that? I was thinking of running down to the local autoparts store and picking up a Diagnostic Scan tool to see what the problem was and clear that check engine light. What do you think? It returned 2 error codes. P306 - Cylinder #6 misfire P351 - Ignition Coil #1 Primary Circuit Now I just need to figure out what that all means! (in reply to archer75) Post #: 4

I recently bought a dakota 5.2 2wd 5 speed and it is equipped with abs but it is not working the light comes on when you start but shuts off as it should but it doesnt work any ideas ?? The way to know is pull dipstick and useing a vacume gage check if tube is pulling a vacume.Also there will prob be oil consumption. (in reply to archer75) Post #: 9
