2002 Dodge Intrepid Transmission Problems - 3/14/2007 12:31:23 PM    s3Fabulous   Posts: 1 Joined: 3/14/2007 Status: offline  It runs fine. As soon as you hit about 45 to 50 miles per hour. The transmission jumps. Then it wont go up in gear. And it acts like it wants to over heat. The thing is, the car will slow down. But it wont shift down or up in gear. Usually when u let off the gas a little, a car will shift down. It wont even do that. But it doesnt do it all the time. Just about 50% of the time Any help? Post #: 1

Your check engine light should be on in this case.  Kurts right that a common problem on chrysler trannie's are the  speed sensors. Check your codes and check your fluid, for color (shouldn't be brownish or burnt smell, but bright red) and make sure your level is good (motor on and tranny warmed up).
