I assume ur talking about GM buyin Chrysler. First of all, if daimler must sell it, I'd rather it go to them than to Kia which I heard was a top contestent.
IF and only IF this actually happens, I see nothing happening to the challenger. After all, it's DODGE, not Chrysler. Challenger ain't being changed for nothing, unless they sell DODGe, which would be ludicris, considering they're the best domestic side of dcx. THat's what I think anyways

Yes, but as you've even referenced Dodge is owned by Chrysler and if Chrysler is sold Dodge goes with it. If it is sold anyone would be stupid to change or stop the Challenger from it's production. The Challenger will single handedly increase Dodges' sales even if they price it high, which everyone hopes they don't. GM could want Chrysler to expand their size to stay at #1 or to eliminate them all together forcing their sales up due to less competition.
so now I'm confused, does Chrysler really own Dodge, or does Damiler chrysler own everything. I thought Chrysler was just like Dodge or Jeep or whatever, not the ownership of all them. AFter all, why would Daimler wanna sell Dodge and Jeep? Their models are selling pretty descent, it's the Chrysler cars that are hurting. If they sold all those brands, it would undo the entire merger.
Now if this was true, and Chrysler and Dodge and Jeep were all one big happy package, then I'd almost like to see it become partners with GM, to give the Domestic companies some more power to crush the poser Toyota junk.
So does Chrysler own Dodge or is it DaimlerChrysler that owns Dodge and Chrysler and Jeep and Mercedes
OH whoops, just read an article, it is as you mentioned, all three would go. Well, I had no idea. If this happened, would the company be basically a slave to GM like it is now to Daimler? Would it have its own say or just get slapped in the face. If they allowed them to do what they wanted withtheir vehicles, I'm all fro the buyouts. I have said lately that all domestic shoudl team up to stop the hurt at Detroit and save our own workers from unemployment.

Just like when Chrysler Corp. bought Dodge, Jeep, Plymouth, AMC, etc., if GM buys Chrysler then GM has full control over them and everything they do. Also, just as Chrysler dropped the Plymouth brand, if GM bought Chrysler they could do as they wish with them and their other divisions, if they want to they could disolve Chrysler and keep Dodge and Jeep alive or anything they want to do. It's kinda like Lamborghini where I thing everyone just about has owned them at one time or another.
I heard over the past weekend from people at a local Ford dealership, that there are rumors about GM buying an interest in Ford. But then, GM is having its own problems, so who knows how this will all come out. If and when Chrysler (read: Dodge, Jeep, etc.) is bought from Daimler, I'm sure there will be plenty of stipulations and "internal" agreements about the different "divisions" of Chrysler being kept "safe". But, time will tell.
I just cringe at even the thought of GM owning the "hemi" let alone the whole Dodge. Chrysler, jeep brands. If anything, and it would be painful, seems like DCX should first try retiring Chrysler only, like they unfortunately did with Plymouth. This would at least reduce the number of individual models they have to support, collapse Town & Country into Caravans, maintain Dodge & Jeep (trucks too). Perhaps re-badge Crossfire and the 300 as "dodges" like they did the Neon from Plymouth. Not a pretty picture, but much better than what I have been reading!!!
If GM were to buy Chrysler/Dodge, I see them trashing most of the Chrysler lineup and leaving most of the Dodge lineup alone. I could see the Charger & 300C surviving, but the Magnum would get tossed....and I also see all the SUV's that Dodge/Chrysler has getting tossed as well....
Honestly, the Challenger will still get built. In fact, the LY platform could even be used to support the Camaro, thus eliminating the need for a crappy GTO remake....

That is about what I can see happening if this would happen. I think GM is more aware of how powerful the Challenger concept has been from the beginning. They know how good the technology that Chrysler has and I believe they want that technology for their own models as well.
The LX cars besides the Magnum would be safe. I'm not sure but I'm would not hold my breath on Chrysler's engine line besides the HEMI being safe. The mid-sized models would most likely be made part of GM's vast line-up. The minivans would most likely be safe (yes GM is dropping theirs but that is because they never were strong in that department). I would be considered about Dodge's SUVs, but not Jeep's (except possibly for the Grand Cherokee since I could see them having them use the Trailblazer platform instead).
I would rather see a non-car company purchase them like Magna.
THE STUD: Dodge has been part of the Chrysler package since around the Great Depression, Jeep has been part of Chrysler since 87-88 when Chrysler bought them out. Pretty much it is a package deal.

I dont even know that the Hemi engine in the cars would be safe......because the LS series engines are more then capable of producing power and they typically get better mileage....
