I have a 01 Durango 4.7liter/4WD with 160,000 miles that has an odd problem.

When first started - the tranny makes a loud noise that sounds like it is in passing gear. The shift points do not seem to be affected. It usually takes about a mile of driving for the noise to go away.

It also seems to be sluggish when first shifting into reverse from a cold start (i.e. after sitting overnight).

I had the tranny serviced (fluid & filter change) but the problem is still there.

Any thoughts?
