Default 2005 Ram 3500 Wiper Problems?

I noticed the other day that my passenger side wiper needed replaced. This was a little disappointing given that I've only had the truck for 15 months. Only 8000 miles. However, given the climate here in Arizona; I chalked it up to expected wear and tear due to the intense summer.
So I go buy a replacement arm.
Tonight I go to remove the factory unit, and the little plastic clips that hold the wiper in place simply sheer right off. So I fight with the wiper for a while and eventually give up before I do any more damage. To see if it was a fluke, I tried the tab on the driver side, and it sheered off as soon as I touched it also. WTF?
The plastic tab is brittle crap.
So now I'm thinking it needs to go to the stealership and let them play with it.
Anyone else having any trouble with theirs?

Steve

Heat, UV,Ozone, and smogdestroy rubber and plastic quickly.

Usually the blades I install in the Fall work through the Winter and Spring just fine, but after the Summer of non-use, they are toast.
