Default 96 Jeep Grd Cherokee - Heater not working

The vehicle has no heat at all; only cold air is blowing out so there's no way to warm the inside of vehicle. Yesterday after driving 10 minutes the temp. guage light lit up and steam started to billow out from under hood. I pulled over, popped the hood and the radiator was NOT hot.Several of the hoses were very hot, butit appears the coolant is not getting to radiator because I pulled the rad. cap off with my bare hands 30 seconds after pulling over. The coolant level looked fine (in plastic reservoir) and all belts seemed intact. Any suggestions? Water pump? thermostat? thx.

Check the heater control valve for leaks. It should be on the pass. side half way back. It looks like a black film canaster inline with the heater hoses (the skinny ones, not the fat ones) if this leaks the coolant goes nowhere fast except the asphalt.
