Default Will not come out of reverse to go into park

I have a '92 Dakota LE, 5.2 L. This morning when I went to start it,I notcied that it was in reverse. I thought this was weird, im pretty sure that i didnt park it in reverse, and be able to pull the key out. I tried everything to get it out of reverse, into park. It will shift down into the other gears, but not up past reverse, into park to be able to start. HELP!!!!!

Transmission lever may be out of alignment.. i couldn't put mine to the far right into 1st gear until it was adjusted. Its right under the steering colum.. i think its just a white gear thing.

I think you are right. I have not had to mess with this before. Is it pretty easy?
