Default mopar performance parts

Ok guys. This is for the 2.2 turbo experts. I have an '86 CS turbo Z. I have a stage II mopar performance computer that i was told will give me 14 lbs of boost. I installed a vehicle specific intercooler and just that alone really brought my car to life. What im wondering is if i install this new computer, what will 14 lbs of boost do to my motor if anything? Also where i live we have very leniant emission laws, so what if i do away with my catylitic perverter, or get a high flow perverter? Which is recommended? Does the car need the extra backpressure of a cat? Just seems to me i need to open up this car on the exhaust end a little since i have so much coming on the intake side of it. Thanks for any input yall can provide.

Hello,
Ok on my car im running 14 pounds on stock so just from my car i would say 14 is ok only ifyou know your motor. And also i took the converter off and upgraded to 3 inch straight through from downpipe on.

No fuel probs? Too rich, too lean? You run a straight pipe, or straight to muffler? Factory or aftermarket? Sorry for all the questions. I'm not new to customizing and "hot rodding", just new to fuel injection and turbocharging.

Hello,
Not to my knowledge. I dont have a/f gauge but seems to run good all the way to 14 pounds. AndI only have stock computerand if you have a stage2 computer I think you would be fine.Just my opinion.3 inch straight through no converter or muffler its a little loud but oh well.

Hi. My current engine is a 2.5 but i've had 3 or more 2.2s'. I run a stock computer with 15 lbs. and straight through 3" exhaust. Some mention a drop in torque without pervertor but I havn't noticed. I think the HP gain is worthany torque loss if any. You will only notice loss of torque if you runlow octane fuel. The fuel may pre-ignite without you ever knowing or hearing it, which will kill bottom end. Can't always trust the A/F meters cause running lean is ok as log as it don't pre-detonate. A knock sensor is more important.

running 14 lbs of boost on your car won't hurt it at all, especially since you have an intercooler, just keep an eye out on your air/fuel ratio. I would sugest getting a cyberdyne air/fuel gauge which is what i have. I run 14 lbs and I do not have an intercooler. You can buy one from Summit. As for having the convertor taken off won't be a problem and you can remove the muffler as well, just don't let the cops find out. You can get away with this without a problem, it's really not all that loud and thats how I have my car set up. Good Luck!

Just thought this might be helpful for any who want to manually control thier boost. I dont know about fuel systems before 89' but my stock fuel system had no problem keeping up with 15psi. Maybe thats why the stock boost gauge peaks at 15.
