I am wondering what everyone paid for their Dakota. The guy who had mine wanted 4k for it, but when he heard the chain slapping around in the transfer case, he went to 3500. It was a 96 Dakota Sport with CD player and tow package fender flares and sliding back glass. The truck is a V6 five speed with 115k on it and the AC was still cold. The truck runs out great since I put the new transfer case in it. Was that a pretty good price?

Hey. I paid 1800 $for mine. It's a 1993 5.2 liter V8 with short cab and box. Power windows and locks, 4X4,and cruise control.Everything works great. Front bumber is messed up and the paint is peeling on ther sides near the two- tone paint job. Other than that its a great looking truck. It had 157 K when i bought it and now it has close to 170. still runs great even with the high milage. Only thing that sucks is the ugly tan interior.

I gave $700 for mine,it's an 87 2wd standard cab a little rusty but not too bad.about $500 and some labor and she's running well.of course when I got her she had 3 different style wheels on and three different branded tires so I bought some wheels and tires to match you know the usual used car stuff...but I'm happy!

my dadgot the 88 dak from my uncle about6 years ago with 145,000kms on it for $2000.

It got given to me 2 years ago when my dad passed away and then I started "fixin her up":D it's been a good truck. it now has only like 175,000kms on it. in the summer I will be putting either my 318 outta my parts 5th av. or my 360 outta my 82 ram. I havent decided yet.;)

these trucks go forever:D

I bought my truck in Jan of '06.The stealership wanted $8,000 (yea... right!), they lowered it to $6,000 after a few hours of talking. I rushed into the sale because I was leaving the next day to go back to training for the Air Force, and wanted a vehicle waiting for me when I got done. Otherwise I would have tried to talk them down even more.
1996 Dakota SLT, 3.9L, automatic, 4x4, two-tone paint (flame red is the primary), 10 inch rear brakes, 8-1/4" rear axle, 3.55 axle ratio, limited slip, sliding back window, tinted windows, power locks windows and mirrors (elephant chrome mirrors), A/C worked until my accident, instrument cluster with the tachometer, the chrome front and rear bumpers, 22 gallon fuel tank, I even have power rack and pinion steering which amazingly looks like recirculating ball (which, if you have a 4WD, you don't have rack and pinion). The only noted "mod" on the truck was the spray on bed liner.
Truck is running very well. Interior is in great condition, and the exterior is as perfect as a 10 year old truck from the north could be (minor rust starting on bottom of drivers door, and the all too common rear bumper rust).

i bought mine new in 1989, $17500.00. its got 42000 miles on it now, have really only used it for 4x4 fishing trips, but just put a new motor in a 72 landcruiser so now the dak will be my daily driver and the landcruiser will become the off road vehicle. the dakota has had brake work, shocks, thermostat, dimmer switch, new convertible canvas, and will be getting the origional plug wires replaced this weekend, other than that its all origional.

I bought mine in late August 06, for $400. I have replaced the tailgate, and removed the horrible carpet. '885spd manual. It runs great, hardly any rust, but she will go to the body shop and get some dents out, and a new paint job...a new thermostat will be in tomorrow, and maybe i can finally have heat

I gave 4k for mine. An elderly gentleman kept it stored in his barn/garage for years and finally decided to trade it in on a new truck. Its a '93 318 4 speed, 4X4, tow package, extended cab, topper and the dodge dealership gave it a "tune up" and changed oil in it while they had it. It just rolled over 100,000 miles :)

I bought my '93 extended cab, 3.9 V6, 43,000 miles, automatic, bed liner, for $10,500 in 1997. Sounds like way too much, but back then trucks were more like gold than they are now. Trucks have definitely come down in price, and better deals can be found. It was the best deal I could find then, and I have been very happy with it. It also has Ziebart rust protection, body is in great shape because of that, no rust. Still runs great, everything works except the odomoter, which broke at 120,000 miles. I think I have put about 30,000 more miles on it, and am trying to find a replacement odometer for it.

These are great trucks, and now I am thinking about getting a new or newer one, but this time 4x4, V8...

I gave $4500 for mine about 3 years ago. 95 4-gear automatic, 318, 4WD, 4 wheel disc which has to be something added later, standard 6ft box with bedliner, original Infinity stereo system which still worked and sounded OK but has since been changed out.Cruise, power windows, locks, full gauge set, 21 or 22 gallon tank, AC which works great at highway speeds but not so good at idle or driving in the city. Some rusting around the bottom of the doors and body where they meet, and a little under the rear wheel wells...All this at 130kwhen i got it...now heading towards 200k in about another couple months or so and I have not had to replace any major component other than the battery which killed off in november. Whoever had this truck babied it and kept it running great. It sure doesn't drive like it has almost 200k on it. Great truck all the way around.

I payed about $5,000 from a Dealership just over 2 years ago.
I almost have the loan payed off and it is doing the usual trick of acting up now that it is almost mine.
Otherwise it has been a model truck... one of the best vehicles I have ever had.
it is a '96. Bought it with 100,000 miles on it. Now it has 123,400. It is 2WD, Ext. cab, V8.

Welll lets seee... I paid 1450$ for mine, but when i went to take it on a test drive and got back, I noticed the Radiator was leaking bad must have just happened... Well, had them put a new radiator and hoses in and then new rear brakes on it, and a Window put in the right side of the truck,(passenger door), it is a : 94 Dakota 318 5.2 Ltr V8 Dual Cab (2doors right?)only thing REALLY wrong with it is cosmetic... I apid all-in-all i think 2,018$$ after the new **** and fixings.. they were going to put a new door on it and try to get 2750$ if i didnt buy it, The cosmetics are: Someone hit a pole at a slow pace and creamed the left side, the front right fender could be bondoed pretty nicely but im just going to replace it... the door could be fixed, easily, the cab has one small GOOD dent in it, thinking it could be fixed to.. and the bed... Is well.. Totally screwed.. Was thinking about putting a stepside bed on it.. Like the lil red dakota i seen in a city not to far from here, but it looks like it came on it.( the roll bar, the lights and the bed)looks real nice.... Mine is a dark Blue with plastic around the fenders.. the right side of the truck has no rust on the front right fender but rust on the bed alll the way down it..the left side is perfect, I call it Two-Face... heh.. but yeah, The A/c works, heater works, has power everything but seats... i just recently got a console for the middle.. niceeeee leather console.. the interior is all blue with Wood grain on the dash.. only problems interior wise is the sagging headliner, the instrument cluster lights are not working, besides the fuel lights, windshield washer fluid light, the blinkers, and the brights indicator, the check engine, and the Ebrake light and the airbag light all work.. but the illumination ons arent working.. the power windows and locks and mirros dont work but that is because the dumb**** before me decided to run new speakers, and didnt do it right.. I had to re-hook them up and noticed why the rest of the door was inoperable.. he cut many a wire in the door panel.. but all in all the interior loooks great besides the head liner and the passenger mirror is gone, i broke the snap lock off the back sliding window on accident. had an amp wired in and mounted, back seats tooken out, wires all still there, besides right back 6x9 wires, had a bad-ass system in it before.uhh ****, thinking of something but i cant think of anymore,...
RIGHT nOW, there is a pulling to the left ONLY in drive though... if i put it in reverse it pulls to the left.... the front suspension is shot but icant afford to repair a bunch of **** on it... anyone have any idead what it might be pulling for like that??? anyone have a problem like that ever? i didnt hit any curbs, the tires have no knots in them but they are bald on front.. new on back.

I have a 2.5L stripper, 5spd, blue on gray with a 170K on it.Needed a battery and an alternatorand a tune up. I didn't pay a nickle for it. Flat out ZERO. That was about a year or so ago and about 10K. No problems. Even the tires are still good. Oh yeah, replaced thebrake pads and shoes because the inspection station said it wasn't braking even. Thats it....good deal so far. Need to find someone with a parts truck though. If you have one... LET ME KNOW... I have cash. The junk yards around me are full of V6's. I need 4 banger parts.

My current project truck is a 1987 Dakota LE 3.9 Auto 2WD. It was my brother's first truck when he was 16, he drove it until he was 24. He put a rebuilt 3.9 in it, the body has 276 000 kms on it, the motor hasabout 90 000 kms. He paid $3000 for it in 1998 and he gave it to me to fix as he now has his work truck and a Cobalt SS. I am hoping to fix the minor problems and put some work into 'er and get $1500when I sell it. Long story short he paid$3000. Last summer I paid $11 300 for my2000 Dakota SLT C/C 4X4 V8Auto

Just picked up a '91 2WD std.cab. I wanted an 8' box truck to drive to the lumber yard a couple of times a month. I paid almost $2K for it but it has 44,000 original miles, Has a coupleof minor dents and scratches. It should have, at 16 yearsold, or I'd figure it was wrecked and repaired. Can find no evidence of that.No air, 3.9 automatic. Must have been an early one because it's a throttle body and not multi-port. Anyway, after cleaning it up (must have been in a barn for a few years) it looks and drives great. I could drive it every day; the longer wheelbase rides better than my car. It's a basic unit, no frills. Limited slip rear and chrome bumpers, and 2-tone paint are the options. Basic AM-FM 2-speaker radio (THATwillchange!).We ran the vin through Carfax and Chryler's Dealerconnect and got the equipment codes, recalls, and service records. No surprises. Everything under the hood except the engine itself reminds me of my '89 Ram B150 van, which was a 5.2. (Not much horsepower at 195 but you could pull tree stumps with it.) Hopefully the Dakota will give me the same service. All in allI think I got a real good deal. No pictures yet,I didn't even think of it after Debra Ann washed it for me today. Have to post one later.
