Default RE: What Fuel Injectors?

Someone needs to answer this question. The later model years (96 +) should still fit the manifold and fuel rail. The electrical plugs may be different. I do know that there was at least one electrical plug change around 2000 but I'm not sure if there was a change from 1995 (OBD1) to 1996 (OBD2).

I do know this, 1993 to 1995 5.9 engines came with a 24 lb injector stock and I'd bet that this one would plug up the the 1992 to 1995 5.2 wiring harness

In any case even if the injectors have different plugs, new ends could be spliced onto the stock wiring harness.

If someone shed some light on this it would be very helpful for anyone upgrading the old obd1 magnums.

Default RE: What Fuel Injectors?

well according to autozone.com a stock 92-96 dakota fuel injector is OEM # 53030262. It even says Ram 92-96 5.2 and 93-96 5.9 isOEM # 53030262. 97-99 dakota and ram 5.2 and 5.9is 53030778. 2000-up 5.9 is 53031740AA. 2000-up 5.2 is O.E.M. #4854181
I put a 2000 rt 5.9 engine in my truck. I took all the connectors from its harnnes and spliced it onto mine. It was not hard. I dont know what the differance is inbetween the 97-99 and the 92-96 are but check them out. go to a parts store and ask to see one and compair it to yours. All the fuel injectors I said will fit the sock fuel rails and manifolds. So the only differance is the connectors!

Default RE: What Fuel Injectors?

Crazy,

I noticed the autozone parts lists as well but it conflicts with this info:

begin quote:

"I read the following from the Q&A section of the April 2001 Mopar
Performance News:

Engine Years Flow rate in lb/hr
Neon ( All) 23.9
2.5 Magnum 91-95 17.4
2.5 Magnum 96-01 23.2
4.0 Jeep 91-95 21.4 (Equivalent to Lucas 5207013 )
4.0 Jeep 96-01 23.2 (Equivalent to Lucas 5208005 )
5.2 Magnum 92-95 18.2
5.2 Magnum 96-01 23.2
5.9 Magnum 93-95 24.5
5.9 Magnum 96-01 23.2 (Seimens/Chrysler P/N 53030778)

---end quote---

I ordered a set of red injectors (probably from an 01+ mode),I also ordered a set from a 1998 5.9 ram. if neither will plug up, I'm going to look for some plug ends from a newer model and splice them onto my harness.

Thanks for the input guys. Does anyone haveany plugs laying around their garage?

Default RE: What Fuel Injectors?

The differance my be due to the fuel pressure regulator. The injectors the same.

Default RE: What Fuel Injectors?

I noticed that these injectors are also different for a 92 5.2 and a 96 5.2. The 92 being 53007809 at 37-41 psi and the 96 being 53030262 at 44-54 psi. I looked this up recently since I am having problems too. I changed my 92 motor out to a 96 and I am having problems getting it to run right. I am not sure about hte 94 but it may be different. autozone.com will tell you which injectors are right for your motor and what pressures they run at.

begin quote:

"I read the following from the Q&A section of the official Chrysler publication April 2001 Mopar Performance News:

Q(5) I'm working on a fuel-injected combination and my dyno program
shows I could benefit from more injector delivery. What can you tell me
about flow rates of the injectors in your catalog? Also, if you have
the factory injector rates would be very helpful.

A(5) You should step up the injectors in something like only 25 percent
increments. The production V-8 is 24 - the MPP package is 30! Remember
that you must change the computer if you change the injectors; at the
least, it must be reprogrammed with the new injector values. Injector
rates are not as easy as one might think, but they go something like
this:

Engine Years Flow rate in lb/hr
Neon ( All) 23.9
2.5 Magnum 91-95 17.4
2.5 Magnum 96-01 23.2
4.0 Jeep 91-95 21.4 (Equivalent to Lucas 5207013 )
4.0 Jeep 96-01 23.2 (Equivalent to Lucas 5208005 )
5.2 Magnum 92-95 18.2
5.2 Magnum 96-01 23.2
5.9 Magnum 93-95 24.5
5.9 Magnum 96-01 23.2 (Seimens/Chrysler P/N 53030778)

---end quote---

Note that about 1996,
when the engine PCM computers went to the OBD-II standard,
all the Dodge fuel injectors went to a 'common calibration' of 23.2 lb/hour.

There is another article about different makes of fuel injectors I
read at:

http://web.archive.org/web/200106101...ectioninfo.htm

If you have a modified 1996+ Magnum engine and you feel you need to 'bump up'
the fuel injectors just a bit, the model year 1993-1995 5.9V8 fuel injectors
are about 6% larger at 24.5 versus 23.2, and Neon injectors are 3% bigger.

For Junkyard hunting
here is a very large list of injectors used in past engines:

http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/ar...ml?&A=0102

or, if that page doesn't load
in the Google internet archive:

http://web.archive.org/web/200108012...flow_rates.htm
