Has anyone done any mods to their cali headlights by switching out the bulbs to different types of Halogens?  I have read alot about these "cool blue", "Bright white" etc etc for the bulbs.

Has anyone purchased any Sylvania Silverstar bulbs or the new Silverstar Ultra bulbs?

I hear also that these bulbs dont last as long as a regular bulb.

I personally think the stock bulbs in the Caliber are very bright and more than
adeqate, however I have seen on other forums that owners are switching them
out for Sylvanias or GEs.
There has been a noted difference in service life of these bulbs however
and if you check on the other forums you see that if you do a lot of night
driving you will be replacing them more often, could be with the Caliber
using the high beam for Daytime Running Lights the longevity may also be
reduced.

I agree. I think the stock ones are plenty bright.

i agree that the stock lightbulbs are plenty bright.  But, i've had the silverstars in my neons, and they made a BIG difference.  I will get them for our Caliber when one of the stock one blows.

I do a lot of night driving here in the UK, and have fitted some Philips GT150's.  They have a whiter light, and penetrate further than the stock bulbs.  I believe the Silverstars are similar, but lack the blue highlight.  I fit new bulbs on every car I own, they do make a difference at night.  Not noticed any issues with lifespan either.

Hope this helps..

i order a lot of bulbs off ebay and from my local stores. and i have had great luck with the cool blue or hyper blue lights my self. nice thing about buying from the store you can return them if you dont like them. just say you didnt install them. every stock bulb can be upgraded. every car i have ever had i do the upgrade an it is alwyas much brighter wider, longer, and blue white looks much better then stock yellow. i am a big fan of the hyper blue color. i have hyper blues in my charger know. just my 2 cents. good luck.

I think the lights are bright enough. In fact none of my friends will ride in front of me at night cause it says it blinds them through rearview mirror.

I have the same thing about blinding my friends at night with my regular lights.  They also don't like driving too close behind because of the bright tail lights.

The biggest issue when you install aftermarket bulbs is that many of them are higher wattage bulbs.  If you don't upgrade the stock harness by adding a relay to power them it will usually cause the bulb to burn out prematurely or will melt the socket right into the headlight.  So if you are going to install the aftermarket bulbs make sure you are staying in the same wattage range, add the relay to power the lights from the battery, or plan on replacing the headlight socket a bunch.

I ran xenon bulbs with the blue tint but super white light in my 06 sentra 6 months ago.  I put them in my caliber 3 weeks ago too.  BIG difference.  I have had no problems to date.  Got them on Ebay for 10 bucks a pair.  I ran silverstars in my 96 stratus.  Couldnt tell a big difference.

the only problem is that silverstar does not make the h13 bulb extra vision is as bright as you are going to get with Sylvania
