Ok, MightyTITAN!, so now you know that the ram 1500 is assembled in Michigan, ok your wiser now (even in your test drive you could have seen the big stamp on the window that says "quality assembled Michigan") well, the most important part in here is DO YOU THINK THAT IF HEMI WERE PRODUCED IN THE US IT WOULD BE BETTER???? Answer:NO. Germans cuold say so much more about the "American" cars, they are much more precise, have more refinement, and much better engineering, and even they prefeer sometimes to increase the production in México than other places, even US, so, ok, Im from Saltillo, Mexico, here we assemble the hemi, but is the pride of DC, why do you think they choose to produce it here?? they have other engine plants in the US. And yes, the 2500 and the 3500 heavy duty are assembled in the derramadero plant, also in Mexico, but, those are the only trucks that have won the truck of the year, not the 1500 assembled in US. Also the sport SRT10 is produced here, you really think that is coincidence that the best models (2500, 3500, and SRT10) are produced here, and also the best engine 5.7 Hemi?? Dont think so. So get your "taco" back "hamburger" boy and join a Nissan forum.

Not quite sure how to take that post yawgom. Now let me clear up a few misconceptions that you have. The hemi is built in mexico because it replaced the old 5.9 that was built in saltillo, and for the cheaper labor. They wanted to give it to mack engine in detroit since we already build the 3.7, and 4.7 but thought we could not handle the extra load. Now they know they were wrong because half of mack I is idle. So now the new 6.1 hemi might be built at mack. No official word as of yet. And the best engine? I think that still belongs to the V10. Which is made here at conner assy, right next to the vipers. The reason you got the srt-10? Purely production numbers. They only need a few so why not use the least used truck plant, saltillo. They only build about 20 trucks an hour. Warren builds 70(and we don't do reg cabs), st louis about 45. So if we had your time per truck I'm sure we would get better quality. But warren truck is the largest money maker for the company. Why do you think we run three shifts? Also most 2500's come from st louis. And lastly your "best" engine is in lst place in warranty cost. Meaning its costing the company the most in warranty repairs. The best? 2.0 Trenton engine followed by the 4.7, and 3.7. So easy there buddy, mack and kenosha are gunning for the new hemi, and the current one too! Joe

When I say "the best engine" I mean the best cost-value, for instance a in a regular hemi 5.7 how much it would cost you every hp, (345) and in the SRT10, you'll pay as twice for only 180 hp, then not only the most powerfull engine is the best. And you said it, the SRT not sells, because $, and they are putting instead the hemi in every of their best cars, "built in Mexico", durango, ram, 300C, and others. About the cheap labor dont belive it much, that was 15 years ago, an average worker now (supervisor or more) gets arround 3,000 - 7,000 a month, so if you want cheap labor ask China. In general I hate when "American Pride" insults the work and the people that makes your cars but every one is braggin, the hemi logo or not?? So think about it.

yawgom, If thats what your supervisors are making that means the guys on the line are making less right? The least amount an average auto worker makes up here is 4600 a month. And I'm assuming you are talking dollars and not pesos. Also I don't know what kind of benefits you guys get the uaw told us our benefit package is worth about 30 grand a year. And your right bang for your buck hemi hands down is the winner. But also don't forget all of those cars you mentioned that the hemi goes in are built in either canada or the states. So if it is so much better down there don't you think they would have just put everything down there by now? And lastly do you even work at a chrysler plant, or do you just live there? Joe

Well, im not precisely work at DC plant in Saltillo, I give them outsource services only, but I have friends and family working there. This is all about racism against Mexicans, is not the first time that it happens in a forum. I think is wrong to tell someone that just for being Mexican or from other region (that is not US) that his skills to produce something with quality are limited, and thats what you people are saying. About the 4600 US dollars (you dont need to asume nothing this time), you are saying that the guys IN LINE make about 25 dollars an hour??? on a regular work basis, it would be nice that you back up that info, because seems a little exagerated, bottom line, Mexico is not anymore a cheap labor country, you would be surprised by how high are the prices of labor are here, China is now becoming a big supplier for Mexico now; I agree that you are better paid, but dont think that you are gettin' 100% more. About benefits, they have medical insurance by new york life (for all the family), 2 cars per year, and transportation. I think thats worth the 30 k. So lets just think that the things that are produced here, are produced here for some reason, not for us to decide, and the same thing for you. Lets keep it that way.

I can't agree that there has been any racism toward Mexicans, but maybe I haven't seen the thread either. Let me tell you that I think your doing a good job, from what i can tell, I love my Hemi.

Todd I was just asking he worked at the plant or if he lived in the area of the plant. Not quite sure what you thought I meant. Yawgom, Yes 25/ hr is base for a big three union worker. It goes higher for shift premiums. 5% for second 10% for third. I don't know how to prove that to you without showing you a paystub, so I don't know what else to say. Do they give you two cars, or two discounts for cars a year? We get 6 discounts per year, but no cars. Cars would be nice though! So think about it you are probably making anywhere from half to to three quarters to what we make. That is quite a bit of differance when you times that by thousands of people. And a side note, health ins(mine is $8000 per year family of three)is just one of the many benefits we enjoy as part of our contract. Also if I have disrespected you or your culture I am sorry. I did not think I did, but perhaps you took something I said that way. What most of us up here are getting tired of is corprate america is shipping a lot of our jobs to mexico, and now china but expecting the american consumer to keep buying the products. No job=no money=no product being bought. But they don't see it that way, and unfortunately neither does the average american until it is too late. Joe
