Default Putting a lift on a durango??

I am seriously debating in my head weather or not to lift my truck... IDK how much id wanna spend or how i would want to raise it or even how much. I saw a pic of a guys truck who raised it with a shackle and torsion crank... It seemed to be about how much i would want to raise mine... Any opions on what the shackle and torsion does to the actual truck as far as handleing and safety??

From what I have heard the T/S list does not affect the ride on our D's just don't go beyond 2 inches with the torsion bars (8 revolutions) or you could end up with problems with alignment and put extra stress on the axle shafts.

Oh okay cool... cuz i want to do it but im just a little hesitant in not knowing too much info about it. I mean it sounds like its easy and cheap and its about how much i want it to raise for now but i want to make sure im not messing with a double edged sword here... Yanno?

On another forum I'm on there are plenty of people that have done it without ill effects so I wouldn't be concerned with it.

Hydra the D is doing great but I haven't been driving it that much lately since I don't have gas money and my wifes Scion only needs $30 every 2 weeks. I've taken it offroad a few times since I've gotten here and it got a little hotter than I would like so I need a heavy duty fan clutch but the tranny is solid now.

Do you or anyone know where i could buy a Shackle Set for my durango. And also wehre i could buy a body lift. I was thinking about compaing the two. Price wise. To see which one is the most cost effective..

Thats the link to the guys truck. I would love to make it look just about that high or even raise the back a little more and get a 2inch rake from back to front....

i found the Tuff Country 5.5"front/5"rear suspension lift at the local shop. they wanted $1600 for the kit and $2k installed. does this seem fair?
what other lifts are out there for the D? what lift do you guys recommend?
also,
stock- what are the biggest tires that will fit with no trimming?
with the susp. lift, will i still need a body lift to fit 32 or 33's?

thanks!
