My transmission is leaking appears to be in area of trans pan, never had a leak until went in for fluid and filter change, checked bolts all well anyone know if the torque convertor drains upon sitting back into the pan causing the leakage (fluid level does not read high)any thought or ideas greatly appreciated

the torque converted does not bled back into the transmission, if this was a dealer id bring that thing back there and have them do it correctly for free including new fluid and filter change and if that pan is leaking with the bolts properly torqued down either not enough RTV sealant wasnt used to make a gasket or the gasket they used is shot or pretty much is bare metal to metal, that a big no no, plus they are liable if theres any damage done to the transmission do to mechanic error

they problem is most likely with the pan gasket. when you use those rubber gaskets it is very important that you do not over tighten the pan bolts. this just makes the rubber squeeze out and it will not seal there. the best thing to do is to make sure the pan and mounting surface on the tranny are good and clean and then use some good silicon( not that rtv blue junk) and lay a thick bead around the tranny pan. let it set for about an hour to let the silicon set up some and then put the pan back one. let it sit over for at least 6 hours before you refill it or it will still leak
