Hello,
this is the situation I have a 1989 2.2 turbo 1 and I have had it for over 2 years and have not got it running right once. Heres the symptoms when 1.its cold it starts fine but when it warm it revs up real high. 2. It misses out real bad at lower rpms and at certain spots in certain rpm rangs like around 2,000 but if you stomp on it, it evens out. 3. And a couple of times while I am driving it seem like the fuel just cuts out because it just falls onits face for lik 3 sec then it just runs through it. and it throws a code. I took it to autozone to check it and they said map sensor but that didnt do a thing. So any info at all would b greatly appreciated.
Thanks Dave

Check your vacuum lines and make sure they are in the right places. Also check for vacuum leaks. My buddies 88 Shelby had the same issues and we found that the vacuum lines were all screwed up.

When we got the car all the vacuum lines were jacked up and there is no vacuum guide on the underside of the hood. And the locall junkyards dont have any. And me and my father have tried our best to get them right but to no prevail. So mayb if you have a diagram or know where I can get one from that would great.
Thanks Dave

After getting your vacum lines straightened out, if you are still having problems remove the EGR valve and clean it of carbon buildup buy soaking it in a solvent type cleaner overnight, (Don't submerge the diaphram part of the valve) and then use a small knife blade? (Carefully)brushes etc to clean the inside passages of the valve. After cleaning use a vacum source to see if the valve is working. I hope this helps.

Seeing as the problem only occurs when the vehicle is warmed up it could be a faulty Oxygen sensor.

OK we got the vacuum lines fixed and changed the tps sensor and it runs fine except when I get to around 11 pounds and then it kinda bogs down again but for it seems to be running good for everything under 11. And for the egr valve we do not have one on the car. And we put a new o2 sensor in the car about 1 month ago. Thanks So much for all your the help.

I think if you are getting more than 11 Lbs of boost something is wrong, I thought 7-9 Lbs was stock and 9-11 Lbs For the Off road computer, also the cat could be getting plugged up, are you showing anything on your Power Limeted read out now. Our 84 T Z has an EGR didn't know the newer ones don't.

The newer Cali emission cars have them (atleast according to the diagrams autozone has on their website)

11psi is too high for a stock tI - you're probably hitting overboost cutout. Do you have any trouble codes? Pull them by turning the key on-off-on-off-on without starting the car, then count the engine light flashes. They're 2 digit codes (blinkblinkblink....pause....blinkblink.....long pause....repeats) and will always end in "5-5" or end of sequence. If you have any questions about what the codes mean drop me an email, I have them around somewhere. IIRC overboost cutout is code 45.

Ok, on the 11lbs of boost we have a modified controller on the wastegate to allow us to run all the way to 15 pounds. But at 15 pounds is where we have the cut out from somwhere . But at around 11 is where it just bogs down a little but doesnt cut out. And we have no converter it is a straight through exhaust. And yea we are throwing a code the first code autozone said it was a map sensor but that didnt fix it. I will check the codes again and see what I get. Any more info would be help full

You'r first post said you've had the car two years and it had never run properly, so lets not loose sight of whats been accomplished in such a short time. This kind of comraderie is what its all about. I wonder if you have a component incompatibilty problem going on now, IE you'r remaining stock 11 lb boost stuff doesn't want to interface with the 15 lb boost (aftermarket?) components. From years of racing I have found many times stock to modefied and aftermarket to aftermarket manufactures don't play well together. I recently found out that DC still offers there code 11? race computer for the G bodys, we have an older style OR computer in Tony but were told by our local DC dealer we could still upgrade to the code 11? We don't want to go that far with a original 55000 mile car but this could be one way for you to go.

Ok so far the only thing we have done performance wise to the car is modified wastegate to run all the way up to 15 pounds. Straight through exhaust. We havent bought any aftermarket part for the car, the controller on the wastegate was made. and for the code 11? im not quite sure I understand what your talking about. How would I go about getting a the race computer you are talking about? And would there be any other parts i would need to get to so i could run the new computer?
Thanks Dave

I would put the wastgate back to stock, the code 11 computer is available through Mopar performance and when installed should do more with less hassel, any good Dodge dealer parts man can look it up just tell them you want the baddist computer they have for you'r year G body Datona or look it up you'r self in a Mopar performance catalog at the dealer, they usually will let you browse through thier catalog.
