Default How to check tranny fluid

Hey Guys,
Is there a way to check the tranny fluid on a 2.7L without taking it to the dealer?
Thanks

The Dealer just uses a home made looking dipstick to check your fluid- it's a pretty big ripoff to try and get you in there for servicing. The dealer's stick is an aluminumhandle at the top with a 34" pice of 1/4" neopreme tubing attached to it. To make your own, fasion some sort of handle so you won't drop the stick down the tube and attach a flexible 34" piece of material to it and scribe a mark 1" off the bottom(could use an old dipstick cut to 34"). The fluid level should bewithin+/- a half inch ofthis scribed, '1" off the bottom' mark. (so it'sat 33" from the top of the dipstick tube). Check the tranny warm and in Neutral. **Note: This isfor the 5 sdp r/t tranny - might bedifferent measurementsfor the 3.5 / 2.7L. I just walked into the dealer and asked a mechanic for the measurements and he was happy to give them to me.

Nice, you have gone where nobody else has ventured!

Thanks for having the mind to ask for the measurements, that's going to be useful and it’s way cool.
