So for christmas, I bought myself a book on Small block A engines from mopar performance to plan my motor build up/research it some. I know i am no where even close to doing it but i like ta plan ahead. Current thoughts are: cam shaft: Mopar part number p4452759 duration 260/268 Lift .430/.450 Intake: Mopar part number p4529116 MP m1 Dual plane intake for a carb either a 650 or 750 CFM cant decide yet. Headers: 1 and 5/8ths tube headers Heads: 308 "swirl port" if i have extra money, might get a vavle job, Pistons: either 8.66:1 or 9.5:1, Cant decide on a few things, and still need to research rocker arms/lifters/valve springs. Just thought id get your guys input:) Merry Christmas to all!

ORIGINAL: Ryathis Yah was just thinkin ahead on how ill get traction, do those traction bars actually help at all? I plan on going with a posi, and probably somethin right around a 3.08 rear end ratio, without an overdrive i dont wanna be be pullin too high of a ratio. Yes, traction bars make a HUGE difference. They reduce axle wrap... that's when your leaf springs twist, making your rear end rock back and forth which kills your 60ft times.

Hi Rayathis, usually I look in the ram forum, but my eye caught your posting and I did have a 91' Dak with a 318 - V8. This was the first full production Dak with a V8. Oh I know there was other years with a limited V8 production. I was thinking of putting a cam in it for more pulling power for towing. When the supplier could not find a cam right away, he had to call me back, which he did. What we found out was a 1991 318 Dakota was a smaller unit than what would be in a 1991 318 Ram. This was to make it fit in the Dak even with the nose rounded out, a regular 318 would not have fitted. Also the 1991- 318 was a Magnum motor with throttle body fuel injection - 92' was multi port. This was an unique motor. The thing went like sink with a 3:91 AXLE. Good luck with your project.
