Hi, we have a '94 Intrepid we are trying to get running. It has a new battery but when we turn the key, nothing. We've tried jumping it, and after letting it charge for a good 5 minutes, it will start. As soon as we disconnect the jumper cables and put the car in gear to move it, the engine stops running. Any ideas?

check to make sure the altenator is charging the bat. A lot of times, when people "jump" a car, they make a little oops and put the cables on the wrong posts (not saying you, but maybe the people you bought it from). There is a section of wire on older cars (now its slightly diffrent kind that now looks like a fuse, but still serves the same purpose) called a fusable link. It protects the circuit and if it burns through, the alt will never charge your bat. I suggest you FULLY charge your battery (if you don't have a charger, pull the bat, take it to Auto zone (ect) for a night and they will check and charge it for free). Then even if your alt isn't charging, you should have enought jucie to get to auto zone (or other) and they can check your charging system. Of course this depends on how far, and how much juice you use while driving (keep the radio off, drive at day with no lights on, not in the rain so you don't need wipers ect)
