Please Help!! I just purchased a 94 interped es 3.5. The transmission seems to be stuck in low gear. I can get it up to a good speed but the rpms run about 4, and the transmission knocks very hard. Any ideas?

I just changed a speed sensor (output) and fixed mine. Mine however also had the speedometer inop. If yours isn't (if it works), you may want to try the speed input sensor (a 25$ guess) to the transmission. Both sensors are located on the left rear side of the transmission (just behind and above the left axel). Are you having any other probs (ie engine codes, speedometer ect)?
PS the output sensor is the futher aft one while the more fwd one is the input sensor. Also they are not interchanable.

Limp mode...
It's programed as a precaution. If the computer sences something is fuked in the transmission, it will disable the third and fourth gear.
Take it in and have it checked.
With the knocking...it looks like your transmission is about to flatline.
If it jerks in the process, your gears are slipping, check transmission fluid and the level. If the fluid is milky, get the transmission replaced. You may also be able to get an oversized filter for the transmission to make the 60k mile fluid change intervals easier to live with.

Go to DI.NET if my option fails.

Have a mechanic look at the transmission, if it's serious, have them make out a statement.
You may be able to take this to court.

There are a few questions that apply before the legal stuff :
Did the seller say that there were any problems before the sale?
Have the transmission been slipping/getting worse since you had it?

There is one other question, but I can't think of it yet.
