There are many nice options...including AWD
also there are possible future options including a 300hp turbo engine. VERY COOL STUFF

I spec'd one out as if I was going to replace my current Stratus R/T coupe....and just for basically what I current have....the car would cost basically 28k before TT&L.....and that's excluding the turbo option and the sport package....
With those...it would be over 31....
However, that 28k price did include AWD....but no MTX [:'(][:@]:(

Although the basis of the avenger is mitsu the bulk of the design is mopar. And with Mopar motivation it should make for a peppy well handling car.

Wow, if those prices are close to what it will end up being it will definatly make more more likely to trade in my Magnum for one, $22,620 for an R/T with the 3.5L and ESP, $24,995 with the 300hp turbo w/auto and sports apearance package.

TheFamilyGuy209, the new Avenger and Sebring are not rebadged Mitsubishi cars (as some of the previous versions were). The only "copied" feature of these cars is that they share the same basic chassis dimensions with the Mitsu Galant. Otherwise, these two cars are engineered fully by Chrysler.

i consider where it is built. the sebring avenger is made in sterling heights which is a dcx plant not a mitsu plant.

This car is what the Charger should have been. It's not a horrible looking car, but it does have some good spots. Definately Stratus worthy.

The Charger is sexy when it isn't in a dumb Daytona appearence package...

Hmmm...an SRT-4 Avenger or a Challenger SRT-8- it's going to be tough for me to decide which one to buy when they are both finally out. With the way gas prices are going, the Avenger is looking like the smarter choice for my daily commuter. However, it's pretty damned hard to beat the drop dead sexiness of the Challenger. Why does Dodge have to do this to me? lol :P

Nick was refering to the fact that in normal conditions the normal models of the Avenger is a FWD with AWD optional, and the Charger is a RWD with AWD optional.
This really looks like it is a serious competitor. Did you notice that they also mentioned a 2.0L with a manual in the future section as well? Although I'm not interested in a model like that, that will appeal to those who want good fuel mileage, and they also mentioned a Diesel version as well in the future section. This car is a huge improvement over the Stratus. This car is the Spirit all over again, only much nicer. Adding the 300hp turbo I4 is a nice improvement. That should be able to beat the Mazda Speed6, as well as the Nissan Altima, and Camry in acceleration. They mentioned it would have both an automatic and manual with the turbo, I wonder if the automatic will be the new 62TE, or the CVT2. If the 62TE, it will probably get reasonably good fuel mileage.
I think this car is a home run for Dodge in the mid-sized market. The only things I would do different is I would offer the 4.0L in the R/T, the detuned 3.5L in the SXT package, and I would offer the 62TE in all versions. The 2.7L just isn't very competitive. The market is moving away from 4-speeds and it can't hurt to one up Toyota and Honda (for a change).

I can't agree with the peppy part, lol.
This is definitely what the first Avenger should have been optioned with. Well, at least the 3.5L V6. It makes for a peppy car.
That's great that this Avenger version has a turbo option and AWD (although, only in auto[:@]) too.
Things are looking better for the Avenger name IMO:)
Although, I can see an AWD Charger in my future, if not an EVO X, lol.
