i think you should be fine since you live in flordia where there are no major inclines.  i used to have a 5th wheel that i towed with a '99 1500 5.9l with no problems.  you gas mileage is gonna be down the crapper, but oh well.....

I've towed a UHaul Auto Transport and a Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo for
about 600 miles over a 3 rather hilly areas [read small mountain
range].  She did rather well.  I think we were cruising
around 70-75mph most of the trip...  even up the mountain (had it
in 3rd the hole time going up, but the temps did good, just peaking
over the middle mark).   Trailer and car were probably about 4000
pounds.

Like kaZ and 5.9rm said.... you'll be fine.  If you were haulin' that load in the Rockies or the Cascades on a regular basis, I'd have a different opinion....

Not that I'm any kind of expert (since I've owned my Ram for all of two months) but I do know my truck has plenty of power when my '20 foot, 2.5-3K pound boat is taggin' along, and I'm dealing with significantly steeper grades... (Overall weight for my setup depends on the #'s of fisherman, the #'s of fish in the box, and the quantity of beer remaining in the cooler).

My guess is, you'll be finer than frog hair.....  Tim

I have the same setup as you do and I tow close to if not over the towing limit.....Have a 5700 pound camper trailer, plus gear, plus family.  family weighs in at about 600 and gear can be as much as another 1000...depending on activities.   camper is a 27' travel trailer and I use a weight distributing hitch....I wouldn't be able to tow safetly with out it.  Only problem I had was with an extremely steep hill.  Transmission was hunting for gears and would change between 1st and 2nd gear.  Solved problem by using 4wheel drive low on this particular hill....switching to low I was getting into 3rd and 4th gear and conquering the hill at about 35 mph.  While towing with this trailer I get between 5 and 10 mpg depending on city or highway, hills or flats.    I would say that if you are going to go over 5000 pounds with your dodge definately get some sort of help for the suspension.  but your dodge can easily handle up to 7000 if not more.
