Default knocking? =S

ok, so my brother has an 04 Dakota SXT and he has have a knocking in/around his engine. and when he starts it the knocking goes fast then when it goes to idle it slows down, its by the left side and if you listen under the left from wheel you can hear it pretty loud. he's taken it back to the dealer he bought it from and they said it was normal and nother to worry about but then again. its still under warranty and he's taken it to a local dealer and they said its fine. but its really loud and noticable and i was wondering what to do. its been going on and just seems to get worse. any ideas?

I'm running 10W-30. I've put in Lucas oil treatment so far. Its not working. The dealership told me to try fuel injector cleaner thinking it may be a clogged injector. Thats not working to this point either. [:@]

its did it for a long time. he was putting 5w 30 in it and then switched to 10 but he just had it changed by a shop here and they put 5 in.

my girlfriends dad told him to cancel out the spark plugs one by one to see if its internal.
but they are no where to be found. any ideas?

If it is loud and then as it warms up it goes away. It sounds like if their isn't enough oil and as it warms up the oil spreads around and lubicates. Check the oil level, and maybe the oil pump, but for it to be so new I don't see why it would be doing things so early. One thing I do, that you might want to see if it works for you, is I put one bottle of syn. oil with my regular oil when I change my oil.

I had a 97 dakota V-6 that had a knock and I started using higher octane gas and it went away. Now my mother has a 01 Dakota V-6 which has the same problem. Is this a common problem? Would using a colder plug eliminate the knock? If so any recommendations, autozone looked up two bosch platinum plugs that were colder and then colder yet.
