Hey new to this site here...

My roomate just bought a 94 Eagle Vision (Intrepid) last night for $450 because the previous owner said that it needed a battery.

We got it home and it started right back up after I shut it off (had been running for prob 30min or so - charging the battery)

Anyway we shut the doors and went inside, about an hour later I was walking by it and noticed that the dome lights were on, but not the door ajar light. we jumped it again and with it running the dome lights would go on and off as they should when opening and closing the doors.

I put a battery charger on it and went inside. Dome lights went off when I closed the door. about an hour later I looked out and the dome lights came back on again. I pulled the fuse to get the lights off but it's the same fuse for the radio, and a bunch of other stuff.

What do you guys think would cause the dome lights to come on with the car sitting there. I dont think its a door switch since the door ajar light isint on.

any tips are apprecieated.

thank you

"The Body Control Module (BCM) illuminates the courtesy lamps whenever a door is opened. When the last door is closed, the BCM “fades-to-OFF” the courtesy lamps in five seconds if not in illuminated entry mode. If a door is left ajar, the courtesy lamps
remain on for a maximum of 15 minutes when the ignition switch is OFF. After 15 minutes, the BCM “fades-to-OFF” the courtesy lamps."

That was an exerpt from a second gen manual. Assuming it works the same, it sounds like either a defective BCM or possibly the keyless entry input to the circuit (relay ect). This could be because the BCM also gets a signal from the keyless entry system to turn on the lights when you unlock the doors.

Are all the lights comming on (all the same lights as when the door is open)?
Is it after aprox 15 min when the light/lights come on?
Do you have keyless entry? If so, are the door locks also cycling?

Found the problem to be a bad battery... We replaced the battery with a new one and it works fine now.. lights are not staying on.
