Default power locks cycling

Hi all,

My 2003 Durango's power locks started cycling on their own. They unlock and lock very quickly without my activating the remote entry or anything else. Leaving the driver's door open seems to stop this, but obviously this isn't a viable option. I don't really have a clue what it could be, but I half wonder if maybe it's a fuse issue because the fuse is a big resistor looking thing.

Thanks for your help.

Default RE: power locks cycling

It is not the relay. AND it is not the central timing module (which my dealer wanted me to pay $400 to replace and I would have STILL had the problem.)

It is moisture and fixed by having the dealer perform TSB 08-023-03. After about $75, you are home free and the locks will be fine.

Here is the TSB info: http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2003/08-023-03.htm and my recount of the problem when I had it: http://www.durangoclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=15861 In fact, that was the reason I joined any forum in the first place and then over time indirectly lead me here

HTH!!

Good stuff Indy! I was thinking CTM but didn't want to say because I wasn't 100% and that is not a part you want to replace at that cost without being positive.

No problem... just helping along. Having had that exact problem, it is unnerving to have the locks lock on their own. I got to where I couldn't get out of the car for a minute withour fear of locking the keys in there. Until one experiences it for yourself, you will never really know LOL. The TSB fixed it and I haven't had the issue since. I was ready to shell out the $400 on the CTM, and glad I found someone to post the answer for me then too. I would have been out the $400 for a new CTM and still would have had the problem or I would of spent the $400 thinking I bought a new CTM and the dealer would have ran the TSB. Crooks! (Not LOL... LOL!)

Hi all, I disconnected the battery and the locks stopped cycling. Happened again a couple of months later, battery worked again. Now it's back and nothing clears it. Is there a way to disable my power locks until I get the TSB done? They're cycling almost constantly now and it's impossible to drive without going insane.

Thanks.

The parts are cheap and the labor book says 45 minutes labor so it's cheap. I had to press the stealers feet to the fire to make them keep and honor the time in the book as the repair time to charge on the job. The did after I pressed them on it. Do the say and let them do it. It was like $50 in labor so well worth their time instead of mine.
