Super Sport Challenger eh?

Sounds alil' too GMish for my liking. My interest is peaked however.

That Nitro is lookin' pretty bad-ass by the way!

Actually, the rhumor mill shows that the SS moniker stands for Super Stock, not Super Sport.
I don't know how reliable the info is, so I guess we'll just have to wait for reports and pics from the SEMA show, where this concept of the concept is supposed to debut in a few weeks. The Super Stock car is alleged to have a 500+HP motor and hood scoop in place of the concept-car butterfly flaps on the hood.
With all of the bonafide DCX/Mopar defunct badges used in the past, I'm not sure what to make of the SS badge.
Regardless of what appears at the SEMA show, it doesn't necessarily mean it will ever see production.

saw it the other day but sounds interesting. cant wait to see what it looks like and what the specs on it are. so if this makes it into production then maybe the labeling of the challenger everyones been debating about would go as such:
se
sxt
r/t
srt8
ss
just a thought i could be totally off. but i was thinking have a small v6 in the se, a little bigger v6 in the sxt, a hemi in the r/t, a 6.1 hemi in the srt8, and a 6.4 hemi in the SS.

I have my doubts about this coming through. As Patrick said on DC, many models of different vehicles are shown but are never produced such as they had actually built a Charger coupe out of the current Charger sedan. Just because they show it doesn't mean they will build it.

I agree that the SXT should have an engine upgrade from the SXT trim. Edmunds is not always the most accurate about concept models or cars, in fact, no outlet is really that reliable anymore if you ask me.

Not sure what to make of it either? SS is purely GM doamin to me and would be a mistake in terms of badging for a mopar. If they are going down the "super stock" path then why not use S/S as was used on the strip or HP2 which was used with the very first hemi's...they can do this right if they try.

If they slap an SS badge on it they might as well completely destroy it and sell out by making an RS, RS/SS, Z28, etc. versions too. Dodge is well known for the R/T and SRT badges and they need to stick with them or perhaps use T/A or GTS or come up with something new and original, but NEVER EVER use someone elses label.

I agree. It is stupid to use the symbols of another cooperation, even if they do change one word it is still ripping off of their badge. I would raise the underworld if Ford or GM used the R/T badge.

I couldnt agree more!! They should take a lesson from GM by re badging a Holden and calling it a GTO and crushing all the goat fans out there. SS= GM. All the letters in the alphabet and thats what they came up with?? They choose the same letter....twice?? as gm?? LOL I like the SRT name plate. Even the font they use looks great.
