Summary:
ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH FRONT BENCH SEATS ONLY, IF FLUID IS SPILLED FROM THE FLOOR MOUNTED CUP HOLDER, AN UNUSED CONSOLE POWER OUTLET CONNECTOR LOCATED UNDER THE SEAT MAY BECOME CONTAMINATED.
Consequence:
THIS MAY ALLOW DEVELOPMENT OF A HIGH RESISTIVE SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE CONNECTOR, WHICH COULD EVENTUALLY LEAD TO A FIRE.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE CONSOLE WIRING CONNECTOR FOR CORROSION, CLEAN AS REQUIRED, AND INSTALL A CAP TO PREVENT ADDITIONAL FLUID FROM CONTAMINATING THE CONNECTOR FREE OF CHARGE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DAIMLER CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.

Finally some specifics on that Durango recall! At least it does not apply to our 1998 - 2000 Durangos because we have a different type of console layout.

I have yet to see a Durango with a front bench seat? Has anyone see or own a D with a front bench seat? All I have seen are bucket seats with center console.

I don't think there will be too many Durango recalls for those that has the front bench seats!

Although I have yet to see one with a bench seat in the front. I wonder if we could get one and install it into ours so that the ladys can sit on the side.

My D has a bench seat since itis a low end model (sport). It came with a bench seat because it didn't come with a third row seat.

I have never seen them before, I have a '03 SXT (base) and it has bucket seats...

I have done a few of the f42 recall,You need to have 60/40 front bench seats. there is a connector under the driver's seat that needs to be inspected.There is now another recall for the durango H/B body G07 for the cluster.
