I am very disgusted with the gas mileage my daughter is getting: 10.3 miles/gallon. The window sticker claimed 17. I know, we are not going to get 17, but the difference is too much. What gas mileage are you getting? city-driving. ( I drive a suburban and I get 12.3 miles/gallon...) Otherwise, the car is a dream..

First of all, welcome yayabo. Sorry to hear the MPG isn’t what you expected, I anticipate it will get better. I have a Daytona and on average get 18 in town, at times I’ve pushed 20. We need a little information here: What kinda Charger you got? (I know it a HEMI, but a 5.7 or 6.1) <= just batting away vultures here yayabo, please disregard. How many miles? (There’s a break-in period)

10.3mpg is very low I got better mileage with my Hemi Ram. If the charger isn't quite broken in yet then that may be the reason. I don't have the mileage read out in my charger but I get about 300-320miles to a tank which lasts me about 9-10 days.

Not sure why the mileage is so low, I get anywhere from 17 - 20 mpg in mine. Is this from your dash readout or your own calculations?

Thanks for all the replies. So let's hope it is the breaking in period, the car has less than 500 miles. It is a charger Daytona and I got the mileage from the dash board message. I am going to try to calculate them. Thanks again

Yayabo - my r/t has 2200 miles on it and i`m getting 17 to 22 mpg. My dealer says I`ll get better as engine breaks in - which is a good thing because I drive 80 miles a dat to and from work. But this is all better than my 2000 ram which was getting 13 with a good tail wind.

Chances are.. that alot of your daughter's milage troubles, comes from your daughter's driving habits. Paddle Shift. good for performance especially in traffic, keeps the revs up and lets you move around without lugging the engine or downshifting through the passing gears as you might in auto trans mode. If she forgets to shift.. or just loves the growl of the engine at a higher RPM.. it's baaad for fuel milage Auto Shift.. good for thoughtless-smooth shift performance, but easy to get to lug down the engine. Anyone that has watched the Milage Indicater, will tell you that the unit looses alot of milage efficiency pulling off from every stop. Dragging out getting up to speed, repeated stop such as heavy traffic, allowing the unit to operate under 1500 RPM, or exceptionally hard take-offs at every stop, is a death nell to stable milage. Might be you get better fuel milage just teaching her the basics, as you might waiting on the break-in period and all the unit performance enhancements & mods put together. just some *fuel* for thought.

I'll throw my 2cents here. My Daytona Sucks for mileage. I reset my computer, set my cruise at 60mph, and drove on flat ground for miles. What do I get, no more that 20mpg. Boo on Dodge for labeling my car at 25mpg. I was going to get a gas mileage car when the sticker on the Daytona showed 25mpg. I figures that was pretty good and I could afford the little lose in mileage to have the Hemi. Shoot, my hemi truck gets the same mileage as this car. That's what I get for putting my faith in the manufacturer. They'll do anything to sell a car nowadays. And for the horsepower/torque claim... I think my BS meter is at it's redline. Mike
