Default T'stat/Performance Improvement

Has anybody out there who has installed a 180 degree t'stat seen an improvement in performance ? With the emissions-based electronics, I hesitate in changing it in the hope that it might improve power but in actuality it might just reduce power. I've got an Airraid cAI and Flowmaster and am satisfied with them. From what I've read about the Jet chip, I guess I'll stay away from that for now.

I put a 180ΒΊ stat in my truck. I believe it runs better than with the OEM stat. Just my take on it. Change out your stat and try it, If you do not like it put the OEM back in. Conversations are all over the place concerning this modification on all the dodge forums. From a great mod to you may or will ruin the engine. Only your personal experince working on engines can guide you if you should or shouldn't do this.

Combined with my StageII Jet chip, my take is the 180 t'stat has definitely improved overall performance. Some may disagree, but I know my truck runs better with this mod. Happy to report I have just received my modified TB from The Fastman. Will install as soon as this crappy NJ weather improves and I get a dry day.

i have installed a 180 stat and i am running the stage 2 chip. definetlly a difference. the jet chip is recommened to run with the 180 stat. also with my iat relocated and the k/n fipk with the 3 inch catback, truck has a lot of get up and go. off the line and even in the long run.

it all depends on how cold the weather is. if you live up north, i would wait until next summer. running at 180 degrees will take your heatercore a little longer to reach its optimal heating range. however, it will keep your block running cooler, inturn running more efficiently. if you live in a state that requires smog tests, be careful because the 180 tstat change may cause you to come closer to failing, or be enough to push you over the edge if you are close already.
