I just bought my 2007 dakota TRX and i love the truck but My fan clutch has already broken my door doesnt close right and i now have a water leak throught the heater core. It's kind of disheartning you know you buy a new truck and it has so many problems. I just want to know if all the dakotas are like that or if i got one made on someones bad day? THnx guys.

But you will pay more for the extended warranty, if you buy it after you buy the car
or truck. The best time to buy that is when you buy it, if you can.

You can find Chrysler/Dodge Dealers on the net that will sell you an Official  Chrysler warranty for a lot less than your local dealer. Any time before your current warranty expires.

I bought my LHS warranty from a dealer in Iowa [ I live in Ohio] for $1100.00 the same exact package that my dealer wanted $2500.00.

When I asked the guy in Iowa about the difference in price he said if I were in Iowa he would charge me the 2500  [so that he doesn't make local dealers mad]  but he only makes 200 on out of state deals

As a practical matter
the only reasonable cost way to try to force a dealership
to honor a warranty
is to go to your local small claims court
without a lawyer.

In most small claims courts the citizen wins more than 70% of the time
especially if you bring good pictures, receipts, etc.

Mag-Moss is a US Federal Law that you have to get in line
at the Federal Courthouse with an experienced lawyer.
Count on minimum expense of $15,000 to $30,000
and more than a years time.
Can you 'succeed' that way to get a vehicle warranty
of less than $15,000 honored?
The majority of the time the Federal judge will NOT order the dealership
to pay your legal costs even if you win.
"Parties pay own costs" occurs most of the time.
The Federal Judge may also be annoyed that you are 'clogging' his court.

The General Motors Corporation is VERY  strict about Warranty issues.

I work for DaimlerChrysler/Starr Motors and My friend works for GM/Duke Automotive
Suffolk, VA
so i compare alot all the time.

we are very leaniant about warranty issues. - but some dealerships are very careful...
i work for a 5-star certified dealership and we are very confident and secure with everything .

i just replaced front and rear diffs on a jeep rubicon WITH 38.5" Mickey Thompsons!! 9" lift
ALL Covered under warranty :)
them diffs were F-ed up!
Chunks of metal...
mud all over jeep
looked like it was in a Mud bog fest...
but we covered it under warranty......
not the best pay rate for me... but does keep cust happy...
but like if a truck comes in for a tranny rebuild-states cust. under warranty. and i open it up and i see B&M plates and holes drilled in valve body.... Sorryyyyy - you know...

GM voids powertrain completely if aftermarket CAI is installed, tranny, transfer case everything... - Says CAUSES Excessive Stress on Drivetrain Components.... BS

Ford i hear is the same way

Ok, so here is the deal.

I am tired of hearing people ask if, adding so and so will void my warranty. So..... hopefully people will read this FIRST, and notice unless a dealer can PROVE what was added caused the problem, then they have to replace it under warranty.

Please don't shoot the messenger here, I just want to share the painful truth.  Dealerships don't have to prove anything, ever.  Dealerships don't HAVE to warranty anything, ever, period.  Once you buy a vehicle and drive it off the lot, it is yours.  If it breaks down 30 seconds later, the dealer does not have to do anything to help you.  Chrysler corp. is responsible for the warranty, not the dealer.  If you mod your truck, you are taking the risk of having the dealer refuse warranty repairs.  Even if you have a bone stock vehicle that just needs warranty repairs, the dealer still does not have to do anything. Don't get me wrong.  I know a CAI will not cause the radio to quit or the trans to go out.  I like warranty work.  Love horsepower.  But if you go into a dealership with a modded truck and an attitude, you are probally gonna get shown the door...If a dealership really wants to push the issue, 1 phone call or email to their district manager and you warranty is void.  Added below are pages out of the warranty manual for a Dakota.......

3. What's Not Covered
3.1 Modifications Not Covered
A. Some Modifications Don’t Void the
Warranties But Aren’t Covered
Certain changes that you might make to your
vehicle do not, by themselves, void the warranties
described in this booklet. Examples of some of
these changes are:
• installing non-DaimlerChrysler Motors
Company LLC ("DaimlerChrysler") parts,
components, or equipment (such as a non-
DaimlerChrysler radio or speed control); and
• using special non-DaimlerChrysler materials or
additives
But your warranties don’t cover any part that
DaimlerChrysler didn’t supply or is not certified for use
on your vehicle. Nor do they cover the costs of any
repairs or adjustments that might be caused or needed
because of the installation or use of non-DaimlerChrysler
parts, components, equipment, materials, or additives.
Performance or racing parts are considered to be
non-DaimlerChrysler parts. Repairs or adjustments
caused by their use are not covered under your warranties.
Examples of the types of alterations not covered are:
• installing accessories — except for genuine
DaimlerChrysler / MOPAR accessories installed by an
authorized Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer;
• applying rustproofing or other protection
products; or
• using any refrigerant that DaimlerChrysler or
DaimlerChrysler Corporation has not approved.
B. Modifications That WILL Void Your
Warranties
These actions will void your warranties:
• disconnecting, tampering with, or altering the
odometer will void your warranties, unless your
repairing technician follows the legal requirements
for repairing or replacing odometers; or
• attaching any device that disconnects the
odometer will also void your warranties.
3.2 Environmental Factors Not Covered
Your warranties don’t cover damage caused by
environmental factors such as airborne fallout,
chemicals, tree sap, salt, ocean spray, acid rain, and
road hazards. Nor do your warranties cover damage
caused by hailstorms, windstorms, tornadoes, sandstorms,
lightning, floods, and earthquakes.
Your warranties do not cover conditions resulting
from anything impacting the vehicle. This includes
cracks and chips in glass, scratches and chips in
painted surfaces, or damage from collision
3.3 Maintenance Costs Not Covered
Your warranties don’t cover the costs of repairing
damage caused by poor or improper maintenance.
Nor do they cover damage caused by the use of
contaminated fuels, or by the use of fuels, oils,
lubricants, cleaners or fluids other than those
recommended in your Owner’s Manual.
The warranties don’t cover the costs of your
vehicle’s normal or scheduled maintenance — the
parts and services that all vehicles routinely need.
Some of these parts and services, which your
warranties don’t cover, include:
• lubrication;
• engine tune-ups;
• replacing filters, coolant, spark plugs, bulbs, or
fuses (unless those costs result from a covered
repair);
• cleaning and polishing; and
• replacing worn wiper blades, worn brake pads
and linings, or clutch linings.
3.5 Racing Not Covered
Your warranties don’t cover the costs of repairing
damage or conditions caused by racing, nor do they
cover the repair of any defects that are found as the
result of participating in a racing event.
3.6 Certain Kinds of Corrosion Not
Covered
Your warranties don’t cover the following:
• corrosion caused by accident, damage, abuse,
or vehicle alteration;
• surface corrosion caused by such things as
industrial fallout, sand, salt, hail, and stones;
• corrosion caused by the extensive or abnormal
transport of caustic materials like chemicals,
acids, and fertilizers; and

I completely agree that a Dodge owner's best bet to get a questionable warranty problem covered,
is to find a Dealership with a philosophy of treating people right,
and applying "The Golden Rule".

Your second best option is to get the Chrysler Regional Representative involved, especially if he is a 'Golden Rule' type person...which the majority are.

Far worst in third place
is to go to county small claims court.

If you look or talk like a street racer
and the small claims judge is a woman,
you might as well give up...or perhaps get your
wife/girlfriend/sister/mother to be the one to show up in court and argue your side with as many pictures as possible
