So I read on here earlier today that someone thinks his charger R/T runs 13.9 stock? I was wondering if this is true bc the times I have seen have all been in the mid 14's. I would like to know some of ya'lls 1/4 mi times if possible. And if I am wrong about the 13.9 I apologize. And my friend has a h/c Z28 that runs in the 11's and he says the best he has seen is 14.3 thanks

I wouldn’t doubt it; under optimal conditions it could pull those numbers.

14.07 for my Daytona. Just putting it in "D" and mashing the accelerator. It's my starting point...

mnboy,

Is your 14.07 time before or after the mods you have listed? If it was before, what are your current times?

Keep er between the ditches,

Ken

Ken,

Sorry, I didn't get back sooner.

The time was after the mods.

Not bad for 4,000 pounds with a small block engine...

I can't see a stock R/T running a 13.9 but a 14.1 I have seen. And just with a superchip, and a cold-air intake a charger ran a 13.8. The same charger is now in the mid 13's with exhaust and headers, drivers best time is a 13.4

Nicky,

Ok. Let's see...

A stock Daytona runs 14.5... I spent, um, let's see here, ok, $1,100 to go 14.01... hmm. Headers are another $1,500 and more exhaust, ok, probably $2,000... Oh, the SuperChip is $375...

That means spending about $ 3,500 to drop a slightly more than a second.

Now we can see our formula:

Don't tell the missus I just spent $3,500 to go 1 1/2 seconds faster in 1,320 feet...

Must be some bad elevation at the track you run. Cause the charger I saw run the times I said was at ATCO Raceway in NJ. Do you spin the tires alot off the line cause a 14.5 is a pretty slow time for a charger? And you spent $1,100 on just those three modd's that seems abit expensive to me.

Nicky,

Hmm. There is hardly any difference between a 14.1 and a 14.5. or even 14.5 and 13.4 You said you "saw" a Charger run a 13.4. Oh, certainly could be, I have no doubt, but it wasn't stock.

My thoughts are this: More speed, MORE money.

I was just letting you know that all the fun speed stuff isn't cheap... and doesn't help in a heavy car since then it's even MORE money. A light car is easier to hot rod.

But, if I install all the stuff I said, you're out about $3,500 -- If a stock Charger runs 14.5 and you said he's running now a 13.4 -- that's only a bit more than one second for all that money...

That's why a lot of guys "cheat" with nitrous... but engine longevity is a question.

Well your $3,500 is abit off. $750 for very good headers, $500 exhaust, $300 cold-air intake, and $400 for a superchip. You are looking at $2,500 after all are installed not $3,500. For $3,500 you could have a heads, cams, headers to be hitting the high 12's.

Maybe it's my mood, or I don't know, but I detect BS here.

Frankly, I could care less what it costs to make a 4,000 pound car a 12 second ride. I didn't buy it for that, I don't care if I go 10 seconds in my Daytona, and if YOU want to spend $20,000 to go into 10 secondville, I could care less.

I was trying to be friendly, and for some reason, I just don't need to be pushed on this one...

Just like some other guys here, you are bla-bla-bla -- if you want me to start believe your BS, start posting track times and what you did to your car.

I'm not trying to be a dick I'm sorry if I'm coming off like its just that 3,500 for the simple modd's you named is a very high price. And I'm getting a superchip in a week or 2 then a few weeks after that getting a CAI. And if I'm able to I'll go to ATCO and see what the car run's in both just drive and with the autostick.

Nicky,

I apologize for my outburst, I usually don't do that.

When you get your mods, and go to the track, let us know your times. Then I'm a believer!

Sounds great Nicky. I will be quite interested in your findings. Run stock, then econo mode, then HP mode. Those would be very informative...

We'll be waiting to hear
