So what does a Charger SRT8 run in the 1/4 mile? I have one but the strip is a long way away from me. I only have 4500 miles on the car and just installed and Airaid SRT8 kit, it slams more cold air into the manifold than I can believe. By the seat of the pants, I can tell the difference, can't wait to get the new headers and exhuast installed, and see what my butt tells me.

Stock SRT-8's can hit the high 12's with the density altitude of the track being 1000FT. Here is a video of a stcok SRT-8 charger running a 12.8 http://videos.streetfire.net/search/charger/4/2056d7cb-13c2-45c6-a40d-43bf125e2ac5.htm

Hey folks:

I found this website rather interesting: www.dragtimes.com. I was curious about this "stock" Marauder that blew the doors off "somebody's" Daytona, and in comparing posted times, I did see a Dayona at 400+ RWHP in the 11's (wow). It hurts us all when one of us loses a dogfight, but that thing had to be pretty heavily modified to even make it close.

Anyway, everybody always wants to know what these cars will actually do and under what conditions. There were several stock Daytona's and R/T's in a variety of weather. This seemed like a website that not only lets you ask these drivers questions about their runs, but it also gives them the opportunity to scan their offical track print outs (thus verifying that it wasn't done on some backroad with a stop watch). It looked pretty legit.

Well, just FYI....

Well that motor is going to last to long running a 150shot of nitrous. But thats about a 475HP charger.

But, if I install all the stuff I said, you're out about $3,500 -- If a stock Charger runs 14.5 and you said he's running now a 13.4 -- that's only a bit more than one second for all that money...

You should see what they pay for 1/10 of second when they approach the 10's and lower, $3500 would not pay for the machine work on the heads...

I agree Nicky B, that engine longevity has been shortened.

I wonder if the SRT8 internals are any better than the 5.7s. A lot of folks say the SRT8 is the way to go if you want performance but if the internals aren’t hardened I see it as a wash, anyway you go you’ll have to fork out major HEMI bucks to replace the crank/rods/pistons.

Interesting tid-bit: I was reading a thread on the 6.1 vs 5.7 stroking and it seems the blocks are not the same between them. The 5.7 cylinder walls appear to be thinner so it can’t be bored out as much as the 6.1.

Ah, so many details and different ways to make these cars boogie.

Yeah the cylinder walls I believe are pretty thin in ways of trying to save some weight. Which is in my opinion not very smart. But a SRT-8 gets pretty fast with just headers, exhaust, intake with a tune it will run 12.6 or so all day long.
