I thought everyone here would like to see this. The Yellow Daytona is my wife and the Blue Superbee is me. It's not to impressive but it was fun none the less. Some Chargers and I from another forum showed up at Las Vegas Motorspeedway for test and tune. Remember, Vegas is 2000ft up and it was 100 degrees out.

Hi Moparmike, I was out there last friday for the MM and I guess I came too late and defintiely did'nt see you there. ( got in about 11pm ) For some reason my Apple won't play the quicktime video, but you say you ran low 15's and you were running fully stock? If I recall, it was propbably in the low 90's or so, do you recall? Reason I'm asking is I was hoping to hit high 13's (dreaming?) with the few mods I got. Are you running on the 26th? I'd love to do a MG with other charges before hand, but havent had much of a response from other forum groups. Maybe we'll get to line up next week? My friends tell me the hard part running the drag here at LVMS is that you can't set up who you run against, it's luck of the draw as you line up?

I ran about a month ago and got the daytona to run a 14.90 when it was 95 degrees out. Wednesday, we could only get a 15.70 and the temp was about the same. There was another charger there and he was running just about the same. The only thing I can think of is we were running a Pro Tree and I think that starts the clock as soon as it goes green. We were sleeping a little so ET's might be higher. Last time out we ran on a slower light that only measures ET's after you leave the line. I'd love to show up and run against you, just for fun. Let me know next time you go. I am considering this Friday for midnight mayhem, I'll post if I decide to go.

Moparmike, it definitely seemed that most people blew it on the start, as the tree lights up pretty quick. I think I have it down though...correct me if I'm wrong but
1) forward slowly, one top white light- move forward more, two top lights froward a little , one bottom light just past the mark, two bottom too far.
2)Once both hit the spot, 1/2 sec before the white tree lights, then Green! ( dont forget to put her in 1st after backing & close windows....... )
Do you suggest keeping the front tires out of the water to keep the steering? Were you running with the ESP on or off? Do you have a SC and if so, what OCT setting? I'm definitely running next MM, the 26th, isn't it ( week from tomorrow? ), it'd be great to meet a couple of other charger owners and compare notes.....

Your pretty close about the lights. The white staging light at the top tells you where to line up. You roll up slowly until the first (very top) light comes on. Then roll alittle more, like a inch or two, and the white light below that will come on. "STOP RIGHT THERE". Push hard on the brake and give her gas. On a pro tree, as soon as you see yellow... GO. On the slower tree, Wait till the last yellow turns on and GO. Don't wait till you see green lights. By the time you car gets it's lazy self to move, the lights been green for a long time. Now remember there is the pro tree which flashes the 3 yellows at the same time very fast and then it goes green and there is the other light which flash the 3 yellows in sequence then the green. I'l try to go out on the 25th but I might be back to work. My daytona is all stock. No mods yet. My supercharger is on the way but I figure another month before I put it on. It's to hot now.

Nice runs Mike I am sure with different air and Alt. time would be faster or slower.Can you tell me what your 1000' or 1/8 mile time was in the charger? What was the time in the B?

15.7... multiple runs.. no electric fan to electric water pump between runs.. I'd call that respectable, though even stock I would have expected you to be closer to the 15 second line one way or another. Like you said the tree would have alot to do with it.. and lets face facts.. anyone to face the tree and your wife on their right side.. may do far worse than 15.7. [:-]

Some folks cannot remember back to the fully stock settings including exhaust.. no cai.. no chip or flashpaq. They don't remember what an improvement in excelleration occured after their I & II Mods. They are not taking into account the tire size.. temperature and traction issues of the stock tires.. so..

I doubt your all to worried about what Mapson or other think.. and I'd kiss someone's tail pipe and let them have 30 minutes to draw a crowd.. if they can get 13.1 out of a stock Daytona.. its not really 350 horse to the ground after all..

Thanks for posting the track times. It will be interesting if you do any mods how the changes will effect them.

I have only ran my G Tech Pro and I know even when I dial in the weight of the car, true track times are abit different. After three runs in 75 degree sunny weather on a lonely stretch, I got 14.07 at 105.6. But I dialed in my GTX (when I had it) and ran slower times. So I need to get to a track and launch it.

Cool video. You've got a pretty cool wife to go, let alone run at the track. Heck, maybe she brought you -- her mom's name isn't Shirley is it? LOL.

Back up, come on now. I'm a State Trooper. Like someone with all that talk is going to effect me. I think all the B.S. is fun. You know, arguing with a Trooper is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while, you realize the pig enjoys it.

Next time I go back, I'll ask for a normal light and see if that changes my times. Either that or I'll have to improve on my reaction times. I really want an accurate baseline to compare with the supercharger once it's installed.

I am missing something? First I posted for those who would appreciate a little video and some pics. I have no intention of bragging about speeds and times. I think it's great that my wife is running her Daytona against a pro tree on a Wednesday night while I get to run next to her with my car. So anyway... do I need to start another post as a read only file.

So here is another post of a modified car running super hero fast and a 4000lbs sled with a 475hp (I'm sure it was dyno'd and these numbers are not just another guess). Please oh Please shed some light on us less fortunite wanna be drag race professionals. How do you do it? I don't know, Hum, green light, foot on gas, hold steering wheel straight. I know I need to learn how to drive but is it that hard.

One more upset person isn't going to put me over the edge. Now really, I spent over $20k+ on a restoration for a car. Now $20k can easily build a sub 10sec. car but I choose not to. I've been there, done that. I raced stock cars for years. Talk about a waste of money. I spent $80k in one year racing my car. Check it out. I posted in a effort to talk to the people on this forum (to which I respect) and have a good time with these cars. If you can't appreciate what's going on here, then that's to bad. There is no need or room for bitter people. I know these cars run 14.1 stock. Sure, at sea level on a cold day. But my wife having a good time at the track, I don't care if it takes her all day to get to the end of the track. Sure, once you add parts, there is room for bragging. I'm cool with that. But lets not put people down, lets all have a good time, share our experiences. Shoot, I'd like to know what makes you cars so fast and what makes mapsons car faster that normal.

My son's 2003 Doug Rippie modified 50th anniversary ZO6 Corvette would smoke my old-school 440 Hurst 4 speed GTX... mostly because it could hookup. It would also definately smoke my new Charger. BUT, he now has a Subaru STi that would would even give a NEW ZO6 a run for it's money (definately smoking your wife's) -- his 60' times are a 1.7 on stock street tires -- and it's a FOUR cylinder, sedan, without NOS -- buddy.

I didnt know the Z06 was twin turbo is it ? If it is then the thing should really scream

No, the stock ZO6 is not a turbo model. It is a super version of the Corvette, then in 2003, using 405 hi-reving HP. Instant (and lots of) throttle response. The pull in pretty much any gear was strong -- at 60 you could put it in 3rd gear and burn the tires -- I was along when we did it. Scarry. We had it dyno'd by a former race driver-turned tuner in Buffalo, MN and he put in a program to make it that way. He gave us 16.5 more rear wheel HP... (when we first went in he said it was running lean...).

Lincolnfelter (sp) uses a turbo setup and sells a kit for the Corvette. A twin kit would be in the 1,000 HP range and very expensive. I also believe they require some suspension/wheel/tire/tranny mods to handle it. If he has one, he or his wife must be damn good drivers...

The stock 200 MPH ZO6 is fast enough for me...

it wasnt fast enough for us only take it to the track with our friends soo and yes it is incediably fast and yes we both are good drivers so i mean it was almost 12k for the whole system then you have to put new tires and we did a little bit to the tranny so we wouldnt blow anything up but it is up to you weather you care or not

I know we got off onto Corvettes... but that is cool because a few of us here actually own(ed) them and relate to that. Wow. If you have twin turbos on that Vette, it's GOT to be a ride! Not for me, though... TOOOOO FAAAAAST for me. Have you put it on the track? Your 1/4 times must be nuts. You probably don't get enough traction for good times??
