Default Knocking and pinging

I can not seem to get the Knocking and pinging to stop on my car. I switched gas from Cheveron to Shell and it still happens. It doesnt happen at full throttle only when I am cruising(not mashing the gas).

Should I take her back to the dealer and let them look at it? The car just broke 2k miles. Could it be something rattling or maybe the heat factor in TX?

Are you using "regular unleaded", or a premium grade?

Take it back to the dealer. I have ran the low grade 87 oct since my car was new. 6200 miles now and have never heard a ping, I have also used premium but can tell no difference in performance.

The car is designed to run on regular unleaded, if you read the manual it says not to run premium gas for prolonged periods, more than a tank in a row i believe.

The car has never seen anything but premium.

That's why I asked.

I've run nothing be 91+ since day one, guess I've been lucky. I have had a couple pings early on w/SuperChips but none the past month.

I've had no problems with mine - with either grade. I was told to run about every other tank full of at least the 89 octane (we have 87, 89 and 91 here). I've been running 91 for quite sometime (cause of the tune I have it set to with the SC tuner) and no problems whatsoever.

I would take it back to the dealer and find out if it is, in fact, the engine pinging, or if it's something else. Better to be safe than sorry later.
