Default Ram air ?

Hey guys, so I have been entertaining the though of a ram air hood since I got my D what I was wondering is would it be a waste of money to go with a CAI if I wanted a ram air setup later down the line? Do you just hook up a tube from the hood scoop to the stock air box or another type of replacement air box or is it best to position the CAI to receive the air or is there a tubing setup that pushes the air directly onto the cone? Thanks.

if you can pick up a cold air intake for less than 50 bucks i say do that until tou do a functional ram air set up ,as for the hook up it all depends on the hood and the company

Default RE: Ram air ?

I have a Ram Air hood, and Cool Air Intake(K&N). It was noisy, when I got on it with the stock hood, but with the Ram air its quiet, and has more power. The two holes go into a larger cavity and the hood is molded to drain any accomulation of water away from the air filter. The cavity has a opening under the hood above the stock air filter box. To make mine true funtional , I had to modify the K&N filter box . I closed the filter into a box with the top open. Installed a seal, and when I close the hood, it seals to the airbox, giving me cold air, forced in ( while driving) from outside.
You can buy the airbox to work with that Keystone hood, but they are to much money. So I fabricated my K&N intake kit.

I'll try to get some pics .....

Jeez you aren't kidding about the price of the box Digi but then again if I got it from stylinconcepts.com I'd get it for like 224 + shipping basically the same as a CAI from K&N and it is a K&N setup anywayI guess I'd buy the hood then see if I could fab something up like you did.
